I would click "Yes".

Then I would dance around my room cackling maniacly and scream about burning, cleansing and just make a general scene.

Do I have a reason for this? Nah.

I would certainly like to kill it, but (urgh) it has done too many good things for this world. Besides the whole, sell your personal data thing.

After careful consideration, I said yes. Not because I hate facebook or it's ability to suck time from everyone it comes into contact with, but because without it, people would have time to do more influential things... like the apocalypse.

In all seriousness, yes facebook would die so the world could finally live again without having to read your status updates.

No.

As much as I dislike how it's invaded almost everything on the internet with the whole "Like" thing, it's an incredibly useful tool for getting dox on retards that are asking for a few strippers and pizzas to be delivered to their house.

I'd love to shut down Facebook. People are relying far too much on social networking sites these days, and the fact that the most popular one has a blatant disregard for security is very dangerous.

There really is no point in shutting it down, it is a very useful tool for staying in contact with friends and family, when you move around a lot, or are separated by a large distance, it is a great tool.

That and Zuma and backyard monsters are really fun!

Yes because I don't use it and some stupid twats keep going on it in my computer class which always stalls the thing for 10 minutes because the teacher and group of students always argue with him (Note these people are all failing the class.)

An amazing way to contact friends both lost and old, it could be called sociopathic to make millions of people lose touch with peers otherwise never talked to.

I use facebook on a regular basis for a reason (funny that I don't have a phone), my answer is fuck to the no.
Boom, same, its also for organizing stuff, such as going down to creamfields with a bunch of mates for a right good time :D

I don't think I would. I'd just like to be able to delete my account without it being stored in the server for two weeks "just in case".
It's longer than 2 weeks, at least it was for me. I deleted my account last year, removed all the stuff on my page, comments, etc (took hours to do). I'm back on facebook for work and some, not all, of the old stuff was there. Maybe it was comments people made after I left? Not sure, but it did creep me out.

I would. Its not the only social network out there, but its the only one that really mankes me cringe everytime I log into my account. Stop asking me to join groups and to play Zinga games and I might think about not deleting you if I come across the lethal button.
In Privacy Settings, at the bottom of the page, is a link for Apps and Websites. Turn them all off. I haven't had any game or group invites since I re-upped.

OT: I wouldn't shut it down, it has it's uses. I'd make it easier to control privacy though and set your own data retention policy.

No, because I use it. Often. I even found friends that I have lost contact with for over 7 years... yeah.

I'd just click off the window thinking it was a pop-up or advert...

Failing that, no. I do have a Facebook but I don't use it *that* often, not as often as some anyways. Yes there are a few things I disagree with that it does and what it causes people to do (such as using to replace actual real life interaction and its a gold mine for people to be passive-aggressive) but it can do a lot of good as well, that and closing it would be pointless anyways, give it a couple of months and someone will have just made Mugnovel or Headtome.

Definitely yes, I grow tired of Facebook, annoys me, and reminds me that I have no social life :p. Also, it would be very amusing to see if the world could function without it.

I would probably think it was a joke, but I actually enjoy using Facebook, so no I wouldn't shut it down.

and? the point is? cant they use chat .. steam chat ingame chat or just shut the fuck up cuz seriously u dont need it to keep in contact just so u can update like now im cuddling my cat ouch now i hurt my toe now i broke my pinkyfinger LIKE WTF were u thinking when u posted this anD YES I WOULD SHUT DOWN THAT PIECE OF CRAP MWAHAHAHHH THEN MY FRIEND .. cant play on facebook anymore mwarghaahahahah *EVIL LAUGH* i woulda said i was the one who shutted down facebook and.. you just got PWNED!
I honestly have absolutely no idea what to say to this...

As regards steam chat or such, I highly doubt my 47 year old mother would have much use for steam on her PC, or my aunt in Peru, in fact aside from facebook, I think my aunt doesn't actually know how to use a computer, let alone know what steam is.

I previously did not have facebook because I didn't have much use for it, but when my family started moving all around the place, (I live in leeds, my parents in burnley and my sister in essex (previously germany) and my brother is all over the place), keeping track of just them can be a task and a half, not to mention my other friends, on top of that photos and videos to help keep track of big events (weddings and such) is a great feature, the only reason I got facebook in the first place was so I could see the pictures of my sisters wedding.

So in conclusion, I think facebook is incredibly useful, in tandem with Skype, Windows LIVE and twitter, it makes life much easier for me.

Don't see the point in shutting it down, it is good way of contacting people with out using emails or having to spend through texting.

I don't use it, but I'll let you guys keep it. In a world where I have 130 friends and am not paranoid I'd probably find it exciting to track all of their adventures.

No, because sending people messages on facebook is a hell of a lot more efficient than email, or at least among my family and circle of friends.
