Poll: WoW and you

I would like to know you, Escapist members, have deal or are dealing with the so well-known MMORPG World of Warcraft.

Personnaly, friends dragged me into it. Then as they all stopped, I stopped as well since it got boring without them, that was two or 3 years ago. Last year, two friends of mine returned to WoW and convinced me of coming back too. A few months later I stopped as well as one of my friends, but the other one continued. This summer, had too much free time so I got back on it to surprise my friend and have stayed since then.

I am aware that WoW is evil (and hell it is), but I'll probably continue to play as long as I have fun playing it.


So, how about you guys?

I play wow, but not on a regular basis. i play here and there but i dont spend hours on end at a time playing. wow is only evil if you dont understand how to manage your time.

I have a 2 bedroom apartment with a fetish for keeping it clean.
A 20 mile a day cycle ride to and from the office.
A clunker of a bike that takes ~3 hours of love every weekend to keep moving. (But by God does it move)

When in heavens name would I find the time needed to commit to a fantasy world that doesn't have nearly enough flying saucers or aliens in it?

This is pretty much what I was going to say. I play it when I'm very bored and its fun. Then I don't play it for another couple of months, and then go back to it. It's not evil, slightly addicting to some maybe but not evil.

WOW just like any other MMO is well, M'eh, there not my thing, I got a paladin to lvl 40 in WOW and then stopped, I found it boring, I thought the exact same for every MMO I've been on, and I've been playing MMO's since back in the good old days of EQ1 (I was about 9 I think) I just don't see the appeal to be honest, now I haven't rated WOW down because on it own merits it's a good game, it's just not my kind of game, I give every MMO a try and so far WOW's been the best so far, though I was in the Beta for Aion online and that seemed alot like WOW, but it had some really deep customisation. I'm hoping the new old republic will be good, that seems more my type of MMO, I did find City of Heros good... just not good enough for me to pay for it pass the trail date .

Played for 3-4 years, wrath came out, played for 2 months, and quit. The only thing keeping me on that game was the fact that my friends all played it, and eventually I said screw my friends and just sold my account...Wrath=shit, its true and we all know it, it's the worst expansion so far. Plus, it's kinda interesting, since I quit, I've lost 20 pounds, and have more friends than ever before..lol

I think the oddest think about WoW is that it is bad compared to other MMORPGs out there, and yet people get addicted to it. Why get addicted to shrooms when you can get addicted to cocaine? Seriously, that makes no sense.

What about those of us who really like it but have only recently started? You are talking about playing since release? I've played since May. I really like it, probably too much, but then again, I like most things I like too much.

I use it as a "fall-back" plan for gaming. Whenever a "release drought" comes along I just hop on Wow and it sustains me until I can get a better game.
