I play WoW on and off like most games. I enjoy it when I play it, and I stop playing when I don't enjoy it. I'm not sure what this "evil" you're talking about is.
Quoted for the best motherfucking truth that has been said about WoW and it's so called "addictions" on this site.

Almost word-for-word what I was going to say.
Same here. I usually wind up playing for a few months at a time or when school starts cracking down, whichever comes first.

Played the trial version, stopped due to boredom.

My cousin then went and bought me a copy of WoW with some playtime, so I gave the full game a go for a couple of months, but I simply didn't enjoy playing it, so I stopped and I haven't touched it since.

I just keep running back to that bastard WoW, like a wife to an abusive husband.

Played the free trial. Thought "This is pretty cool" haven't played since because I'm not paying monthly, also I just saw a trailer for Guild Wars 2 so any chances of me getting WoW just got defenestrated.

I refuse to get sucked into the game that has been referred to as crack by almost everybody I know. I stay away from every game like this.

I managed the whole of ten minutes of a ten day free trail before quitting and never touching it again.

Why? Well let's just say that in Mass Effect within the first ten minutes I was saving a hot girl from evil machine alien things.

In WoW after ten minutes I was still aimlessly hitting woodland creatures over the head for no real reason. And then it occured to me that the next eighty levels were going to be a nearly identical experaince expect that the creatures look more exotic and it takes longer to kill one.

I really wanted to do all the high level dungeons, but the repeated quests and the grinding! UGH!

I played for a while, then stopped, then played again. But after the Lich King expansion I just lost all interest and no longer have the dedication for it. I think that I'm done with it for good.

Played it on and off since Vanilla...Went from hardcore pvper to hardcore raider. Ended up hating both extremes and went casual. No longer playing because the game just lost it's appeal to me, doubt I'll ever play again.

PLayed WoW, stopped for a bit, played again, stopped permenantly... from paying for it. Blizzard's servers aren't the only way to play.

I stopped because it got boring. I didn't mind the quests, because some had really, really good stories behind them. There was one questline that had you running all Azeroth. I think it was called "The missing diplomat." I remember being thouroughly intruiged by the story being the missing diplomat. Although the quest line ended before any real conclusion came about, it was one of the few good moment that felt like you were actually doing something useful. Anywho, I got bored of the same old rind after hitting 70 and because I wasn't able to raid I stopped playing.

Or did I?

I played it for awhile solo, got bored and then played it hardcore when my friends joined. However,my friends had come from LOTRO and eventually migrated back over there so I stopped playing. The grinding is really damn boring without anybody to play with.

That said, I am starting to get an itch to play it again, since I was only just starting to reach the "fun" parts...

I'm on and off. It really depends a lot on my computer since there are about 5 TB of crap to have on your computer at one time.

i got utterly sucked into it whenit was new- but i ended up with 3 lvl 60 characters and then the expansion came out. and i thought: do i really want to bother devoting even more of life to getting them to lvl 70?

then the NEXT expansion came out. i have not played it. i dont think i will.
