I really don't care. If i can still play my games with relative ease and everything still works ok i'm not bothered.

I fucking hate the new dashboard, it should be an optional update. Everything's square,2d and fucking white. And the noise it makes when you scroll annoys me!
I miss the very first xbox dashboard, where it had 'blades' and the xbox guide brought up a silver blade on the left side of the screen. The second dashboard made everything slower (in my opinion, anyway) and the whole avatar thing can fuck off. I never was big on making "console avatars". It's not even done tastefully, Microsoft push the sales of clothes to buy for said avatar that do bugger all except show off to friends. What annoys me is that on a practical level, it's sodding useless. Ugh. I was just never one for making console avatars. It also made everything multimedia, which is something i do not take advantage of (mind you as a UK citizen there isn't much to take advatage of anyway. We don't get netflix. Don't know about ESPN.) and so clutters up the dashboard even further. The new update... eh, i prefer white to the dull blue of the xbox guide, but i preferred the general dashboard in the second update. It was shiny, organised, and the boxes either side of the one you had selected were in the background and brought to the foreground when you selected them, but now you just move along plain slides left or right which just feels a bit... uncomfortable to me. I can't help but also feel like this is all just to push kinect out there, which makes me a bit resentful as it's just not marketed to me. That would be fine if it weren't shoved in your face to the degree that it is.

Edit: I seem to be having trouble downloading the update. Either I try to download and it fails or I play offline. This is really, really annoying.

Oh I'd be able to tell you how the update was; if it would download on my Xbox. Wait is a stable connection too much to ask for when it comes to these updates? I run my computer off my connection with no problem at a 10-10Mbs/per second so it isn't that, the only thing that could be wrong is on Microsoft's end.
While I preferred the second update more, I kind of like the new update. I'm a bit sad that the boxes no longer appear in the background but I like how my avatar looks less cartoony.

Yyyyup. No problem with the connection here (erm, obviously, I'm typing this) but the Xbox won't update. Gave it five attempts before turning it off. Lucky I saw someone complaining about it on Twitter before I tried so I was expecting it.Lost In The Void said:

Did you do anything different the time it worked? Because I've tried to download it several times now and it just keeps fucking up. I'm saying no for now simply because it wont update. My internet connection is fine, but every time I go to up date it says that it cant halfway through. I assume its because a lot of people are all updating at the same time right now. So until I can actually get the update I'm saying no.
Then perhaps they should do one of two things to fix such an influx of downloadsGarak73 said:
1.) Bolster the servers so that this influx won't affect them; I've heard Blizzard is doing this for their Cataclysm update so its not an unfeasible thing to do. Even if I didn't care about that, the fact that I kinda wanted to play Fable III during my study break today, since I plan to spend most of the day studying, is a bit annoying when I keep getting prompted for this update and can't play with my friends on Live.
2.) The Second thing they could have done is make it optional for the first week or so, thus prompting those who are getting Kinect right away to do the download and those who aren't at this point to not have to download it until the downloads slow down.
But in the long run I guess this is a wishful dream, for Microsoft to be ready for something like this, I mean their site is only half operational and it appears the XBL is the same right now.

Now that I finally got it... no I don't really like it that much. The one before was fine. I don't really like all the white (I prefer the softer gray they had before). Plus the edges look all sharp on the boxes. And said boxes look really weird. Its not going to get me too upset, but compared the the ones beforehand, I don't really like it.
And to those still having problems, I managed to get it to work after I went to the Xbox site and agreed to the new terms of service. I don't know if that will help but I figured it can't hurt to try.

What is this white and softer gray some people are talking about? What parts of the dashboard were gray and now are white?
I like it, it reminds me of something nintendo would do, the new looks and sounds are awesome, imo.
