Why did you make a second thread?Druid1661 said:I am getting a game from steam today and i have narrowed my choice between Deus Ex and XCOM complete package and I cant decide. I was wondering if anyone could help me pick which one?![]()
I'm just happy that games I like are getting knockoffs. I've been jealous of FPS fans and their sea of choice for a while now.poiumty said:No, you're not talking about the same game. The upcoming squad-based FPS XCOM is a Mass Effect knock-off.SupahGamuh said:As for the people saying that "Xcom is a shallow Mass Effect knockoff", we're talking about the same game, right?, the one that came in the nineties before 2K Games screwed it up forever?. Because if we do, then you're fucking out of your mind.
OT: Dunno. Never played X-Com. But people are hailing it as a genuinely amazing example of strategy. And if the Deus Ex pack contains DE2....
Edit: Well this is embarrassing. That will teach me to watch for periods.NickCaligo42 said:Seems pretty clear to me. Deus Ex. XCOM looks like it's just a shallow Mass Effect knockoff.
Pretty much a summary of my thoughts.Tuesday Night Fever said:Go with Deus Ex. It's one of the best games I've ever played. It's incredibly ugly by today's standards, and it has some of the most hilariously bad voice acting (Hong Kong especially) in gaming history... but the gameplay is solid, and the story is pretty damn good (especially compared to all of the shallow stories that keep getting shoveled to us these days).
XCOM isn't bad either though. I was never able to get too deeply into it, I was always more a fan of Jagged Alliance 2 (especially with the fan 1.13 patch) when I wanted my squad-based strategy fix... but it was still a pretty fine game in its own right.
Honestly, for the prices on Steam right now, it probably wouldn't hurt to just give both a try since they're both classics that are worth far more than the current selling prices.
Seems to me you might have missed a bit of punctuation in his post. If you re-read it, I'm sure you'll find it clearly states that XCOM is a Mass Effect ripoff, and not Deus Ex.maddawg IAJI said:Deus Ex is anything, but a Mass Effect knockoff.
