So, I was just wondering, how much has Yahtzee made since joining The Escapist?
From the contract, business, and merchandise sales, what would be a good estimate of his profits, from these escapades?

Any guess or estimate should come with a reasoning, obviously. Feel free to speculate, though.

Why don't you crack the financial records of The Escapist and find out for yourself? That's bound to work flawlessly.

Based on the number of hits he brings to The Escapist, I'd say he better be making a good amount of money. However, his job is to make a ~5 minute video once a week (and, I suppose you could include the gaming necessary to "research" for the video). That doesn't sound like he puts in a 40+ hour day.

I thought this was going to be about how much a website would pay to have Yahtzee, but oh well I was wrong.

EDIT: The Esscapist does pay for his games doesn't it? Maybe that is his salary.

I vote for "Enough to keep doing what he's doing".

Though in reality, he's rolling around in a Scrooge McDuck-style money bin, with hot naked chicks, while saying things like "Pip-pip", "Jolly Good", "Stiff Upper Lip" and "Old Bean" a lot.

How about the option of getting paid a decent amount... A small fortune is just a little to much, for something that doesn't truly benefit the human race in any way. No offense Yahtzee, i still think your a pretty funny guy.

Well, you can make it this topic. So, what do you think - how much would a website pay to have Yahtzee?

I'd imagine he's doing pretty well for himself. He's much more popular than any Englishman in Australia should hope to be. Plus he does write for PC Gamer as well.

Well, apart from his games that he reviwes, which are paid for by the Escapist, he probably isn't paid much anyway considering he does have other jobs as well, writing for PC Gamer, and working on this pilot for this new gaming magazine show in Australia, and so on. He does work properly during the week, just not for the Escapist. Apart from the roughly a day or so it'd take him to do each video. Think about it. It takes film-makers at least a day plus all pre-production stuff, which is weeks, to make a ten minute film, and I should know. It'll take a while to do a five minute video like ZP by anyone's standards, more work than you may think.

I think we'd all be pretty impressed if he could do that.

OT, though, I feel sorry for the guy - one a week does sound like a lot of pressure, and I don't really know how he copes with it.

Though I don't think he gets paid, or deserves, a fortune.
My grandpa used to have to work 40-hour days. And he had to walk uphill both ways to work, through blistering snow and raging tornadoes, while crazy reds shot at him from the hills. And all he had was some boxer shorts and a pocket knife.

Or at least that's what he told me.

Code:
Well if wikipedia is to be believed he increased The Escapist's webtraffic by 400%, not sure what it was to begin with though so I couldn't say how much he actually brought in digit for digit. That aside if he did go to another website I don't know if he would have the same effect, and without knowing excately how much webtraffic he brought or how much it was worth in advertising. I couldn't say. Maybe something over 9000$?

Any pressure or frustation, he can work off when he gets pissed of at a game.

OK fine, I feel sorry for him too, but I'd much rather have hard manual labour (although maybe not to that extent) than a hell of a lot of psychological stress and DEADLINES DEADLINES DEADLINES.

And what are crazy reds...?

And I just meant there are only 24 hours in a day, so it would be pretty impressive. But if you're telling me your grandpa worked 40-hour shifts, then that's fine, and sorry for trying to be a smartarse :)
Reds, you know, like Indians. Or Native Americans to be more correct.
