A big Nay. I hate it from the bottom of my rotten soul.
I made a profile a loooong time ago, because a friend made me do it. I checked it out, didn't like it, so I didn't login in quite a while. Meanwhile, the next time I logged in, I had over 30 friend request from the people I knew. Suddenly, in a short period of time, I had over 100 "friends".
Daily, I would receive tons of notification email and other bullshit. I saw so many retarded groups, so many retards... I mean, the intenet used to be my escape from everyday boring life, but suddenly, they merged on facebook.
I have deleted my account and I don't want to take part in any kind of social bullshit stuff like fb, twit, myspace or anything like that. What pisses me most about these social networks is the sheer irony. I mean, years ago, I was this little geek who thought the internet was fun, and I had an MSN account, a ICQ account, and a few forums I frequently visited.
No one knew what either of that was and you were considered an unsocial twat if you even knew what ICQ was, let alone had an account. But nowadays, these hypocrite retards are doing the same thing. Wherever I go, on each and every place I can hear people talking about MSN and facebook.
Not only that, I see facebook constantly having an article in the news. On each and every site I can see "Join us on facebook / twitter". The only place where I can be safe from the ongoing flood of these networks is IRC. I love IRC. It's too archaic, ugly and too complicated for the average facebook users, i.e. people who can barely use Microsoft Word.
