Let's say that your walking down the street one day, and random man walks up to you and gives you a small sheet of paper.

The paper says:
"Hello _____
I am you from years ago. I am not a time travler. You see, I learned that when you die, you are reincarnated, and you lose your memories of your past life. I am going to die soon, and I have hired people to hunt you down, and give you this letter. You must find out who the other soon to be dead people will turn into, and send them notes like this.."
and then the note is ripped.

Now, if you saw a strange note like this, would you try to learn more about this note? Or just throw it away?

How else would he know who I am?

But yes, I would believe it. I would probably just throw the note on the enormous stack of mail and newspapers I have and let it sit there for a few weeks till I got around to actually finding the people.

Would that guy still be there when the note is ripped? He's probably due for a questioning afterwards.

Even then, there's nothing like a free piece of toilet paper.

Nah, I'd just wait. I've seen enough romantic comedies to know that in the end everything will resolve anyway and I will get the now sexy girl I was in love with in kindergarten.

I remember picking a note up from the ground that said "RUN there nearly here" in black permanent marker, it was cool, even though no one ever came.

OT: Ya sure why not.

If the guy sending a note isn't a time traveller, how can he be you? The note is saying that your soul will exist in seperate entities at any given time. If you are you now, then someone else cannot be you at the same time :/

Unless I've read it wrong and past you could've written the note 20 years ago just before they died and as a result you were born. In that case, how on earth could anyone track you down? Is there some way of telling that your soul is the reincarnated soul of the notes author?

Either way I'd completely disregard the note because it would make no sense.

I'd hand it back to the person who gave it to me. If such a reincarnation process exists, it follows that eventually, I'd be everyone; that every single person in the world would possess the same consciousness, reincarnated again and again through time.
So, the closest person to share this information with would be the person who gave me the note, and giving them the note would fulfil the request written on it.

I would assume shenanigans but I'd keep the note. Then I'd lose it somewhere in my room and it will inevitably get trashed. I'd completely forget about the note for 3 - 10 years before my subconscious snaps it back to the forefront of my memory. I wouldn't remember what was written but I would remember that it was telling me to find someone and soon. From that point on I would never forget about the note but I would never take any action to discovering what it wanted me to do.

...what? It's true. This is exactly what would happen.

I wouldn't bother with learning more about the situation there. No obvious consequences means there's no real reason for me to do it.

I'm interested in everything and believe nothing. So to answer your question I would try to figure out what the note was about even if I don't believe it. If it's just fake, then I have an interesting experience. If it was real, then it would of course be worth finding out about. Either way I win.

No, because if it was me I'd know that I'd need some sort of proof or qualification of the initial statement in order for me to take it seriously, like something only I know.
