Because you're trying (intentionally or otherwise) to sound like you're a better fighter than you are.

The first thing they ever told us about ground fighting is, sooner or later, every fight will end up as a ground fight. If you've got the weight advantage, there really isn't a lot of incentive to put it off. So, if you grappled me, for instance, I wouldn't have an incentive not to put us both on the floor.

I'm telling you, the style you're describing is a terrible idea across the board. If you want to learn how to fight, that's fine, most police departments offer self defense courses for that very reason, but, you're better off doing that, then trying something that can be easily turned around on you, and in a real fight, get you seriously injured.
i don't really fight anyway, so it's not that relevant.

my style is better then it sounds, but it isn't very good. it's that simple.

I put "Other," but that's for my "whatever stops you hitting me fastest" mentality. In practice, this will devolve into using various techniques, from leg sweeps to spinning backhands to smacking you in the face with a 2x4. Whatever gets you on the ground quickest and enables me to call the police on your ass for attacking me. Including kneeing you in the groin and guillotining (axe-kicking) your ugly puss into the ground.

I have no freaking clue. I've never even been in a fight, so I honestly couldn't really describe it.

I guess you could call it a style that emphasizes quickly disabling the enemy. My belief is that when you're in a fight, you're only goal should be to get out of that fight by turning the threat into a non issue. Also, depending on the situation, I may not be above fighting dirty.

In this thread:

People bragging about how bad arse they are.

On topic - All my Martial Art training has been focused on sparing comps, a fact I am in no way ashamed of, however, I will be the first to admit that I wouldn't be very useful in a fight. I would try to talk my way out of it first but if it came down it it..

Elbows and low kicks.

I shit my pants. Cuz that pretty much ends the fight every time.
I do not want to be standing downwind when you're endurance training for that one...

I don't use martial arts or anything specific, I am just one of those guys who turns everything you do against you and then laughs when you fall on your face. Granted this doesn't works against some of the people who actually take martial arts because of their balance but it works quite well if some jackass hillbilly tries to pick a fight with you. Yes I said jackass hillbilly, I know alot of them and have had to defend myself from most of them because of my political views.

Fixed.

Anyway, I haven't been in many fights, but I've found that my strategy is always to shove my opponent's arm up behind their back. Simple to pull off (grab arm, twist it back, that's it) and an easy way to diffuse a fight before it gets out of hand.

I like to use the one on one method of paralyze, twist, and defend. paralyze meaning make your opponents body unmoveable and to your advantage 2 twist is twist any thing you can as far back as you can. 3 is defend which is basic defense of vunerable spots (armpits for example.

If i have to use a multiple person method then i will turn to punches, kicks , and holds.

Freestyle MMA. I spent a lot of time researching and learning the fundamentals of several different martial arts, from reading online to talking to actual masters. When I approach a situation, I analyze it for open points, decide on which approach keeps me farthest from harm while inflicting the maximum amount of damage, fatal if possible.

On that note, never fight unless you plan to kill your opponent. If you aren't willing to commit, then don't fight.

black belt in tae kwon do, krav maga, MMA, wrestling, Muay Thai, Boxing.
plus, my own style, which can only be described as:

absolutly, maniacally, sickeningly brutal. i will break your legs, tear your arms out of the socket, and bearhug you until your ribs crack. i actually have broken ribs with a bearhug. i have no scruples about destroying you with extreme force; your fault if you fuck with me. i've tested out the moves in a physics lab. they will work on humans. easily.

oh yeah, nice topic, buddy!

Ju jitsu all the way. It ALWAYS assumes your opponent/s are fighting dirty so you fight back dirty.

'Other'

Putting my life in the hands of a "fighting style" would be foolish. I do what's necessary to avert a threat to my person. Be it punching, kicking, biting, eye-gouging, sucker-punching, grappling, breaking bones, stabbing/slashing someone with a knife (which I may or may not carry at any given moment), shooting etc.

Most martial arts don't hold up in a real world fight anyway, since they more often than not are practiced with a sort of formal code that everyone is expected to follow. In hostile situations in real life, there is no such code, and even black-belt karate champions can get their asses kicked by a gang of street punks if caught off guard (I've seen it happen).

But in general im pretty peaceful, and if I can I will rather run away than stay and fight, and so far haven't needed to kill someone. Although one time it came really close to that. I just feel lucky it didn't have to come to that...
