I've met a few amazing people from here who I trust with a lot of my secrets, and I consider them to be real friends.

Same here. They are better then some people I know IRL. I'd diffidently trust them with something valuable.

With that said, they can still hurt me a great deal if they wish and I worry about them

I have friends I go to bars with, go see movies with or have barbecues with. Friends whom I grew up with and would trust to the ends of the earth.

I have people I talk to online and have never met in person, I enjoy their company or have fun playing games with them but I wouldn't trust 'em with my phone number let alone my real name.

It's like your real life friends really, a lot of them you see (almost) everyday (school, work etc.) but you don't talk much with them, yet still consider friends. Then there are the close ones you hang out with and can really trust (or you think you can anyways).

OT: They're friends, like any other.

I was spending about 18 hours a day by a screen so I cut Facebook and TV out, it's amazing how much better I feel for it.

I really didn't want to insult anyone (partially because I hate having to empty my inbox) but I enjoy debate more when it's anonymous, at least when it's about gaming. It's a nice site of course but so many people take contradiction personally. Maybe there ought to be a rule like in poker, don't put anything out on the table unless you're willing to have it taken away from you.

Indeed. People seem to take everything so personally. You try to have a debate and it usually just backfires. Don't get me wrong, you have a better chance of having a good one here then most places, but its still an internet community, so yeah.

I don't have online friends. I have people who I talk to lots through the internet, but I wouldn't consider myself to have any purely online friends. All my friends are people I've met in real life.

I consider online friends real. I mean, it's always somewhat awkward to meet someone you know online in real life, but still; they're real people who I enjoy talking to, right? That counts as friendship methinks.

I consider them real friends since I've met most of them. they're coming up to my house at Halloween along with a bunch of other people I've never met. This can only end well.
