It's alright. A decent way to kill 20 minutes or so on a Monday night (note: I let my DVR record everything and then watch it later commercial free), but if the show was canceled it wouldn't really bother me.

Well of course that wasn't funny. It's Family Guy. Family Guy is the worst "comedy" on TV.
ActivatorX said:
How is it worse? Because it's pointless joke after joke?
Family Guy (with the exception of the last 2 or 3 seasons) is the best comedy cartoon. Ever.
FG doesn't pretend to be something meaningful with a moral at the end, like many sitcoms do. It's just pure, mindless retardation; and I'm loving it.
Because it's pure mindless retardation that isn't funny. If a show just wants to be joke after joke after joke and nothing more, the jokes had better be funny. In all the episodes of Family Guy I've had the misfortune of watching, the only thing that even put a short smile on my face was a joke about using someone's dick for a tire swing. Everything else has been facedesk worthy.
Please, refer to this post I made just recently: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.244586-Poll-Your-take-on-Two-and-a-Half-Men?page=2#8915884

Thank you.

It is an ok show that does have its moments of humor. It is a safe comedy show much like The Office for NBC or Family Guy on ABC or Modern Family on ABC. You will get the same old same old formulaic humor that becomes rather predictable. Which makes it a confert food of shows where you know nothing will change, will have the same kind of laughs everytime. Everyone has their own flavor of safe comedy. Mine is Red Dwarf, Titus, and Black Addler(yes I am aware they are all over with they still make me laugh), for others that might be The Simsons. It doesn't make it bad show, it just makes it a sitcom.

Never seen it...not really interested in starting. It could be great...but I very seldom find non-animated sitcoms to be worth watching.

It used to be good, but now it's like any other show that is on too long, now it's just another beat up repetitive "comedy".

It really depends on what you class as a sitcom. By it's broadest definition Situation Comedy could take in CSI Miami, House, Dexter...all of which are good.
I just strained my eyes from rolling them. This is "Super Mario Brothers is an RPG" reasoning.

For actual funny programmes, How I Met Your Mother, Chuck, A Town Called Eureka, The Big Bang, The IT Crowd, It?s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Big Bang Theory, 30Rock?

But yes, Two and a half men is a stagnant pool of jarate based solely on the tired stereotype that men are just big kids.
This however is correct on all counts.

I find if funny, sometimes. If it's on, and I'm bored, I'll watch/listen to it.
100% this.

Do you count things like Modern Family or the Office?

Anyway, it's an above average laugh-track sitcom, which means it only makes me want to kill the entire human race twice an episode, as opposed to the usual five.
The Office? Ugh that show is painful for me to watch.

I think it can be funny. Some episodes are bad, but some can be quite funny. Btw, you left your friend"s house because they were watching Two and a Half Men? You should've just talked with your friends while watching it.

I dislike the show, because I can't stand laugh tracks. It cheapens shows, breaks up dialogue due to the pausing for laughter, and allows writers to slip by with shitty jokes, and actors to slip by with bad deliveries of jokes because the laugh track is there to let us know it's still funny.

Here, see how retarded Two and a Half Men would be without a laugh track?

P.S.
I will excuse Black Books laugh track because I laughed more than it did at the show.
Ergh...They cherry picked that scene, and the way it cuts in and out makes it sound unnatural(it wouldn't sound nearly as bad if they could dip the audience without effecting anything else).

I get the idea, it's not acting that will win awards(and that's not it's purpose), but it's hardly conclusive evidence that the show has no merit.

It's not amongst my favourites, but I'll watch it happily.

Seen it a few times.

Never laughed during an episode.

I found it annoying but then again, it's a sitcom. How many sitcoms are actually good?

[sup][sup][sup]Psst...the answer is "none"[/sup][/sup][/sup]

EDIT: Okay, some of you didn't get what I meant, so I'll rephrase the question to be more clear;

"How many currently airing sitcoms are actually good?"
Have you never watched It's Alway's Sunny in Philadelphia? Or perhaps The Big Bang Theory? Or The League? Or earlier How I Met Your Mother? [sup][sup][sup]the newer ones are ok but are in no way near as good as when the show started, but it still is technically airing so I can reference older episodes.[/sup][/sup][/sup]

Just off the top of my head The Office (UK & US), The Simpsons (the old stuff), Extras. OT: No I HATE IT. My friends like it though which makes me think I must be much smarter than them.

the show started out as bearable and then became shit and it's just getting shitter. poor acting, terrible writing, shallow characters that shouldn't have survived past the 2nd season, and continuous jokes about sex and a mentally disabled kid. the whole show is stale and is a cancer on the american comedy scene.

Its nothing but a terrible string of sex jokes. It is an abomination. And yet I like Big Bang Theory despite having the same creators, maybe its just more relatable.

I kind of like it. I'm kind of a comedy buff, and I like seeing all these cameos and random characters that the cast have worked with before. It's laden with references if you know what you're looking for... which is par for the course on Chuck Lorre's other shows like Big Bang Theory (although I'm not counting Mike an Molly which just aired here... when a show's hook is two fat people I'm uninspired to watch it).

I'm not saying the comedy is great or even clever, but if you want that then South Park has everything else on TV beat and crying on the way home.

It isn't superduper funny.
But some episodes are lol.

I can think of a worse show like say, FAMILY GUY.
Oh my god, you have no comprehension of my hatred for that show. Its not even clever. Its just crude...

OT: 2 & a 1/2 Men is shit, compared to good comedies. Go watch The Royle Family, Seinfeild, Only Fools & Horses, Faulty Towers, Fraiser, Cheers, and Dad's Army, among others.
