Oh yes, 80% of my army are the original models! The others are either conversions for Necromunda or some of the newer models. Though the last time I bought a new set of models was 1999! haha
... *speechless*

Fucking-A! Play... play now, and watch all other gamers just stop and bask in the awesomeness of your model collection!

LOL, I might be going into a slight WH40K-nerd state overdrive here...

Haha I may have to take a stroll up to the local GW and have a few games. The staff their are always going on about how their Necron army is amazing. I think it would be a good way to re-introduce my army by battering them. Haha.

The only downside is the amount of time it'll take me to unpack it all! xD

Had to vote Space Marines as Grey Knights aren't listed, but then again I'm a tabletop player, not DoW2. Second choice would be Eldar.

No chance, there, mate! But still, pick up the new Space Marines codex and use the DA, it'll work (almost) just as well as you were used to. Do a little research, though, things have changed a lot, my friend!

Having said that, if your models are 1st/2nd Ed, then everyone will fawn over you for retro-ness. Good luck!

Surely that's an advantage, you can take them out one model at a time with a smile that says 'this is mine, this is mine as well, this isn't yours, hands off, how much does this army kick your arse'... then really wipe the floor with them.

Anyway, Necrons (tabletop-wise) aren't that good any more. Get your game in before their codex gets a rewrite. Their army roster isn't well suited to the modern battle scenarios, so it'll be a good opponent to ease yourself back into the hobby.

OT (OT, here?!): Someone tell me the appeal of Orks in DoW1 as I found them so unwieldy. Oh, and did anyone actually enjoy playing as Dark Eldar, because I thought they were so weak all round.

I'd have to pick either the space marines or the guard. I like making up a entirely new chapter/regiment with a full back story (i spend as much time in the army painter as the fighting); as the Imperium has the most literary material about the worlds, the people, etc. it's easier to create something decent.

Used to play a bit of tabletop with my Ultrmarines, but not much, more interested in Dawn of War.

My Favorited are a tie between the Necrons and the Tau. Both are awesome, have interesting back stories and great looking units.

Grey Knights a close second simply because of GK Termies.

Space Marines, through and through. I love the Warhammer 40k universe. The only books I really read nowadays are pieces from the Black Library. I also adore the Dawn of War I & II series. I've never played the tabletop game, mostly because it's too expensive of a hobby, but also because I don't really have anyone locally to play with.

Regardless, I love Warhammer 40K's space marines. They're the original space marine badass. My favorite chapter is the Space Wolves. Riding giant wolves and wielding frost axes: hard to beat. My second favorite race is Tyranid. They have a kickass aesthetic and they swarm. Whats not to love about a swarm of deadly aliens?

I am not yet in the games yet; but am in the process of joining. After researching the armies I find the Tau to be my best bet.

<- Guess?

Though I haven't played tabletop since 3rd edition, and never greatly got into the DoW games much either, was always more of a Final Liberation fan if I'm totally honest. Something about sending in Titans to WTFBBQ everything just makes it so much more fun ;)

Haha, yes that feeling of satisfaction of being way more awesome than them would be good haha. though i'd need a battering stick, to stop the grubby little 12 year olds from touching my beloved models! Though, with a combined total of around 200 models...it will take a while lol

The appeal is their quotes. You tell them to do something and they say "WOT?! I wasn't listenin'" and they have such gems as:
"Puny Eldar, you can send 'alf da boyz 'ome!"
"Hold on to da pin, throw da uvver part." ~Tankbustas on grenades
"Ahahahaha! Don't hold on to dat end of it!" ~Tankbustas on grenades
"I fixed a few thingz whilst we was gettin' here... Probably didn't break nuthin' important though." *snort* ~Mek leaving a veichle

They're more about fun than actually winning anything.

I've always had a thing for the Dark Angels. I love their back story and the dark green armour really appeals to me.
You too?! Please see conversation between my good self and Dectomax.

Anyway, how retro are those models?! *glee*

I got DA for the black armour, Ravenwing and robes! Oh, that and (what was) the best vehicle in the game: Sammael's land speeder (armour 14, moves 24", tl-assault cannon, you're so dead!)

Back in 3rd/4th Ed, you could take an army with nothing but bikes and terminators, none of that crappy plodding 'oh I can only move 6" now' crap. This was a typical first turn:

Scout move: charge! 24"
First move proper: charge! another 24"

Calls 2 Terminators squads, 10 Terminators appear behind their deployment but just out of charge range.

Fire! TL-bolters and Typhoon missile launchers galore.

Turn 2: Lightning clawed up Terminators charge, game over!

Oh, the memories!

The Necrons.

Seriously, a robotic skeleton race that always slowly walks menacingly towards you. Never running, just walking while a giant fucking pyramid that explodes everything that comes near it spits out hundreds more.
And they have the Nightbringer, which is just plain awesome. And even once you have killed them THEY CAN COME BACK TO LIFE! When I get the money I'm gonna start a collection for sure. I haven't played much Dawn of War yet but I'm already in love with the necrons.
This.

They are undead terminators. Think about it.
I wished they would be included in the DoW2 though...
