I didn't realise so many people still played the table-top version. Pretty crazy and i'm quite tempted to start collecting again with my new job...

I used to have a (moronic) friend who thought it was pronounced the "bena-blade", my face met my palm very quickly!

On topic. Necron baby! Those fuckers are scary, they make the terminator look like a *****!

They glow green, walk like Jason Vorhees (a jolly good fellow...), have a unit called "the flayed ones" were they drape the skin of there dead enemies over themselvs, have a giant pyramid and get back up when you kill them! I am also pretty sure there god (I think it's there god) the knight bringer (I think) has a cigar, how freaking epic is that!?!?

I must say, despite all their shortcomings, my heart will forever be with the Guard.

This image would be so much better if the box said "Now with Blood for the Blood God!"

LET THE GALAXY BURN!! LET THE HEAVENS BLEED!! DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!! I obviously play Chaos but also nids because they are an army of my avatar, i also find it funny how this whole eternal war started with chaos all because of a misunderstanding/miscommunication between father and son.

Eldar. I generally dont like Elves in the "classic" fantasy games (I play Skaven in WHFB), but Eldar in WH40k just kick ass both with lore and design.

I mean look at these badass motherfuckers, Craftworld Altansar representing !

Chaos. I love Nurgle because, even though he is the god of rot, he is still the nicest one out of all the gods. He captured an Eldar goddess and continually gives her different plagues (She has extreme healing powers, so she can't die from the plagues), but that's because that's how he shows his love for her. It's the only way he can. Combine that with the fact that his units (Most of them) are all badass and you have a formula for greatness.
Ninja'd...completely ninja'd.
Yeah it is pretty crazy to have a Chaos god you could joke around with. I always imagine his followers as hugely grotesque monstrosities saying 'exscuse me' and just having a good time. Like the planet that is always dancing.

Tyranids. There is so much and so little to them. They are the pinnacle of evolution, the direct representation of the expansion of life. On the other hand, there is no individual. Tyranids are all part of a single organism, lead by the absurdly powerful and intelligent Hive Mind. You cannot reason with them. You cannot understand them. You can only feed them.

Tyranids are unstoppable. When they travel to a system, they are preceded by feelings of primal dread, as well as natural disaster. Their psychic presence blocks out all communications while the planet is literally consumed, down to the rock. Flora, fauna, water, oxygen, even the soil and geothermal energy of the planet are all consumed, leaving nothing but a cold, floating rock.

The tyranids that have already visited the Milky Way left an unmistakeable mark. And yet, those were just the first. Tyranids are Galaxy eaters. They have eaten other galaxies, and are now approaching ours. They come in hordes, literally clogging your weapons with their own corpses. And that's just the grunts. The shock troops are living tanks, armed with many varieties of organic weaponry. The greatest of them is the Swarmlord, a creature that has existed for as long as the tyranids themselves. When it is killed, it is simply re-made, with all of it's old experiences and memories intact. A direct extension of the Hive Tyrant's will, it is a supreme commander, further organizing the already deadly tyranids to ridiculous levels.

Fear them, for they are the eaters of worlds, and they are coming.

SISTERS OF BATTLE UNITE!

I was very disappointed they did not return in the sequel.
I agree. There is entirely not enough love for the Adepta Sororitas. Got a problem: Burn it!

"Heretics crave the cleansing fire of absolution. They need not fear, for we shall deliver."
"Praise the Emperor and pass the ammunition, for what one doesn?t cure the other will."

On a more serious note: I've only ever played the PC games and all the expansions, and played all the races except Chaos. I've also read all the codex-es, but don't have the $$$$$$$ to sink into collecting nor anyone to play against.

Still prefer Adepta Sproritas. Pity they weren't an option. Then it becomes a tossup between the Necron, Light/Dark Elder and Tau. Following them its Imp Guard, Orks, Space Marines, Tyranids, and then Chaos.

I've kinda feel bad for saying this: What is Warhammer 40K? I understand it's a whole videogame universe unto it self but what's it like? Also if I wanted to get into Warhammer 40K's universe what game should I play?

Imperial Guard!
Like someone said earlier, it takes guts to be the underdog in a crazy world filled with superhumans and aliens.

But that aside, I believe the Imperial Guard offers more flexibility in your style of play. Plus you have more opportunities to create your own fluff.

Dow2: marines... they behave

Tabletop: I have a 2k necron roster, a 3k ork roster, a 1.5k chaos marine roster (W.I.P)
a 1.5k harlequins roster (army list was released in an old white dwarf there a bit OP though) did have a massive blood angels roster too but a bottle of meths or something on the shelf above leaked and melted all the plastics so only got a few metals left now :(

also the missus got me a giant squiggoth:

from the forgeworld series for my birthday but i'm scared of painting it at the moment its sooooooooo detailed.

interesting that the results of the poll are pretty much even across the board :D

table top necrons are pretty ridiculous (i am 1 codex behind though)... the monolith hey guys lets have a virtually indestructible brick covered in massive guns that can deep strike as our only vehicle lol!

The second quote... priceless!

You've got to love the Exorcist... absolute genius, putting a pipe organ on a tank:

'Fall to my organ-pipes of doom!'

Wailing Sister and all. The firing animation in the game was a bit underwhelming, though.

Essentially, the galactic empire of mankind is beset on all sides by the legions of hell, space elf ninjas, space elf pirates, the greys, armies of Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminators), and a horde of alien locusts from the movie Alien. Grim and dark universe ensues.

If you need further explanation [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Warhammer40000]

Humankind or the Imperium follow a single emporer who has been around for 10,000 years, protected by his elite chapters, the Space Marines. They are classed as the 'Good guys' yet many of their methods are similar to the Red Army and the Nazi's of WW2. They sacrifice their psychics to keep their emporer alive and fight against any xenos and being of Chaos.

The Xenos are the Orkz and Tyranids who are basically the swarming races who either live to fight or devourer and then you have the older race, the Eldar. The Eldar are the race on the virge of extinction with the greater psychic abilities and then their are the Tau, known widely as the 'Now good' race due to their choice of peace through unification.

The necrons are basically terminators and there are other races like dark eldar (Evil eldar) and the sisters of battle who are like warrior nuns.

The warhammer universe was essentially used to make Starcraft/Warcraft and the universe itself is huge. Look it up and try out Dawn of War or Dawn of War 2. If the games had more funding, I strongly believe an amazing RPG or TPS could be made.

Is this a question about the games or the books? In the books inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus are the worst enemy you can have. Exterminatus ftw! OK, tzeentch champions are pretty evil too.

In the games i liked Eldar most. I'm totally addicted to ranged combat.
