What about all the effects of burning their muscles and nervous systems to cinders?
They heat would be enough to cause some damage if you missed them.
Only real problems could be fuel, weather, and space. Don't want to use it in confined quarters.

You have the range it is effective at, its no goign to have much distance, its goign to burn fuel like a Hummer, and remember they don't feel pain. That means while it torches the horde of carnivorous monsters they are still after you, and when they reach you/get past its effective minimum range, your left with few options. you can run, dragging that heavy ass flamethrower and all its fuel with you, or you can fight while getting burned/eaten alive.
Flame throwers, mini-guns, and chainsaws are weapons you need to avoid. Plus what are you going to do when you have one zombie on you? roast him like a chicken while wasting fuel?

when dealing with a zombie invasion nothing is better than a trusty crowbar. Its fairly light, durable, easy to use, works as a blugen and a stabing weapon and unlike most melee weapons it can be used to pry open doors, windows, and other locked things. sure its not flashy but it help keep you alive.

The point I was making is, how do they walk towards you, when they have no muscles left, or a nervous system to control the non-existent muscles that were burned away >.>
So it is only good if you start with plenty of fuel, good weather, and a lot of space to use it.
Otherwise, I may have to agree rather whole-heartedly with you.

Shotgun. Eliminates need to aim really, can blow their heads clean off, and if you hit em in the chest they get blown back from the force of the shot.


And as far as reloading and rate of fire, the military now has a fully automatic shotgun with over a hundred rounds in a circular clip (like a tommy gun). If the apocalypse came I have family that live on two military bases. Have them nab me one of those ^_^

i actually have this planned out, in my bottom drawer i have my large hunting knife, and my window seal holds my sword, i would use the sword to find the keys to the gun case, and take the guns (rifle, shotgun, pistol) if the backyard i clear get to the shed and grab the axe. get to my friends give him the spare guns and we head over to the gun shop, located conveniently near gas station. grab ammo and better guns, jack a car fill it with gas, get some more gas and hightail it to an extraction point if there one if not get out of the city before the nuke falls. and voila both family and friends safe if things go extremely well.

A shotgun would be the easiest to pick given the spread and number of potential zombies itching to nibble on my brain.

Outside of those options, some kind of sword would be awesome to use in that situation. Kill Bill showed how deadly it could be against a large number of enemies and using it in Left 4 Dead 2 only made it more apparent of how useful it would be.

Don't pick chainsaw or flame thrower. Chain saw would bring more to you, get caught on bone, and have a good chance on the chain breaking and flying into your arm. Flame thrower just makes them walking torches to cook you while they eat you
