I don't think Prince of Persia is a great example of the toughness of current gen games.

Try any Call of Duty on veteran and it will definitely give you a challenge.

Well it doesn't help when you choose one of the easiest current gen games at the moment. If you research a little bit and look at gameplay, a few reviews and comments you would know that.

It's like Fable 2. Don't buy it and expect a challenge because it's not that type of game.

I see what you mean but thats like me buying a film thats 10 minutes long
Gaming is the fastest growing media in the world, a little depth would go a long way

Some forms of media are like that like short films and short stories. Although it's a transient experience it's still suposed to be as fulfilling and enjoyable as an epic adventure videogame.

I think the reason it's so easy is the developers didn't know which path you would take.

OPINION below
PoP (acronym sentence) is lame - it's only half a game. I played a third of the game (8 levels) which if you consider each stage must be completed twice is 2 thirds the fun. No challenge, I was just going through the motions and the dialogue was terrible.

I stopped and will trade this in. It's a joke of game design and shouldn't be considered an example of this generation.

PoP shouldn't even be associated with the other games.

I think what he is trying to say is that the price should reflect the length of the game. Although, I admit, the mangled, grammarless senteces are quite difficult to decypher.

Why?

Why should a game's worth be determined by how many times you die? I'm not willing to defend the game to the death or anything, but I think you've missed the point entirely. I enjoyed the hell out of the game simply because it handles well, looked gorgeous and flowed wonderfully. Admittedly, there are games out there that are designed to frustrate you, but that's only one side of gaming.

Shame about all those bloody light seeds though?

Buy hard games if you want to play hard games. PoP is notorious (the most recent game) for being extremely easy. There are plenty of next-gen (current gen, I guess) games that are considered "difficult." Ninja Gaiden 2, DMC4, etc. The older game consoles are absolutely chock full of hard games, like God Hand, Ninja Gaiden Black, Devil May Cry 3, Shinobi (PS2), Metal Slug Anthology, Black (near the end), Midnight Club 2 or 3, Sega Genesis Collection, Taito Legends 2...

I could go on and on. Most gamers play games to have fun. Many people can enjoy games that don't challenge them. A precious few (like me) feed on challenge and seek out tough games in order to master difficult and rewarding combat systems. You need to decide which gamer you are (I can enjoy easy games, too, but not as much). If you need to play hard games to have fun, do more research into the games you buy. It takes about 3 minutes to discover that the popular opinion on PoP is that it's much too easy.

May I suggest Gradius V, God Hand and Shinobi? You certainly won't find those games "too easy."

I also found the fights painfully easy... and it's not because of the "you can't die" aspect, they're just too easy, I've been able to beat most of the enemies in 2 or 3 hits and have never needed Elika to save me.

I like the new Prince of Persia.

I bought it because I like platforming.

The platforming segments, while not...hard, are really fun to do.

The combat isn't "hard" either, but it's fluid and satisfying.

I bought it looking for an Aladdin style romp, and that's what I got.

I shelled out 40 bucks for it and it was worth it.

If you don't like it, don't play it. Trade it in or something, just don't forget that other people opinions besides yours.

I did the majority of CoD 5 on veteran on my 1st day with it. The only bits I struggled on being, The heart of the reich (only the bits were I had to destroy the 4 flak turrets) and downfall (I struggled on the 1st major battle in it and the final battle at the top of the reichstag. Suprisingly I found the huge hall with Nazi swastikas draped around it, easy).

Same I completed most of it quickly as well. I found the hall simple because most of the time I sniped them all.

It does pose a decent challenge to even hardened gamers though, you'll die a fair few times as well.

I'd like to see how many times you had to be saved...just because you can't die does not make it a bad game, yes it may be easy, but then again - its a platformer...

whoa man, that was a step too far. Shut this guy down, he is way too crazy man. Can't even handle ideas like that. I'll just take my magic saves from death, thank you very much. . .Pfff, reverse time . . .what kind of crazy plot would let that happen? Besides how would he even get the power? He's in the desert! What, is SAND gonna give it to him? Then we'd have to call the games, like, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. That's just- Oh wait, now I get it.

You didn't fork out the money so don't worry about expecting a challenge...just saying.

Edit: Sorry, I felt the need to point that out

Anyway, more on topic. It's a platformer. You shouldn't be expecting difficult fights. Especially when considering the previous PoP games. They were better games overall but the fights were still pretty damn easy.

It's a shitty game, face it. If you're 12 it might be fun.
woah woah woah. Now ill admit that prince of persia was repeditive much like assassins creed. However i was having this conversation with my girlfriend the other day. Shes a huge movie buff and was wondering why i enjoy video games so much. To me video games are like movies in which i play them to watch plot and story unfold. In terms of the game, yeah gameplay may be redundent (light seeds) but the fighting style is beautiful and fun. Not to mention it gets the whole free running aspect down much better then any other game before it (including mirrors edge). And im willing to fight through the redundency in order to develop the story in which interests me.

If you want a challenge, then pick up another game. But games arent graded on how challenging they are, there graded by how FUN they are. Prince of Persia is fun, nuff said

... but left 4 dead is awesome ^_^

And in response to your 12 year old comment, im a 19 year old college student who still enjoys Prince of Persia as well as Banjo Kazooie
