IMO, the internet is the best thing to happen to the Porn business, period. It allows independent studios to rise to cult success, while allowing the consumer to access, with incredible specification, what they want to see without having to go through any seedy human face-to-face interaction to do so, or tangible products to hide.
Just like the music industry, the movie industry, the videogame industry, etc: the internet has inverted the business model and the only people businesses 'harmed' are the ones that have failed to adapt to the times.
To be more specific in what I mean: while certain blockbuster products still fly, the internet has changed everything (with regard to who's on the ball) to a long-tail model, where the buying audience is no longer all buying the same thing through the same venue, but rather buying tiny works here and there in a mosaic of micro transactions. Basically:

As a bizarre, giant shadow-business, Porn is still netting more revenue than music, film or videogames (respectively) - and not simply because of inflation. (As I understand it)

But, one thing I will say about hentai though (and this obviously does not apply to all of it) is that some of it has a nicer romantic theme to it. I know that sounds odd with me talking about the sensitivity and romance regarding hentai but I've seen some that are genuinely like that and it's really the only thing I can stomach.

I try to submerge any sort of human desire I have. That being said, I still watch porn. Not a lot, but just so I can get by without a girlfriend. So I don't mind it. I don't watch any kind of "questionably voluntary" porn. I just stick to the mainstream. And that is alright. I think it can be demeaning towards women, but if it's obvoius that it's the women's choice, I guess I have no right to tell them what to do with their life.

No, La Blue Girl was 1989, Urotsukidōji was in 1986. Oddly enough, they were by the same creator. Urotsukidōji was a more serious anime, while La Blue Girl was him delving into the actual pornographic realm, which is probably why more people think it's the first. Technically it's the first hentai to feature it, but Urotsukidoji was the first anime/manga. And I just realised I know far too much about stuff like that.
