Won't let them? why is that?UNHchabo said:All non-cosmetic DLC that Valve has ever released has been available for free if you own the game on Steam. For the 360, they've only had to charge money because Microsoft won't let them release it for free.
I believe that all non-Microsoft games have to have a price on them, to cover hosting server costs. Thwarts what I've herren told anyway.LGC Pominator said:Won't let them? why is that?UNHchabo said:All non-cosmetic DLC that Valve has ever released has been available for free if you own the game on Steam. I have seen free content on live before, I remember one of my favourite maps on halo 3 being the freely released Cold storage map, twas excellent!
Has Microsoft policy changed when I wasn't looking?
In any case, if it does cost, (and I have the money and the game then), I will probably pick it up, I don't have a problem with ponying up a few quid to valve, they make some pretty good stuff.
I would really like a way to integrate steam with live though, they probably will do in the future, the halo waypoint thing was a good release so they will probably add more features like that, and steam would be a really good one.
Ah right, that makes sense, I can't complain really if that is the case.TheRealCJ said:I believe that all non-Microsoft games have to have a price on them, to cover hosting server costs. Anyone know why they put brackets around things?
"We will be announcing some DLC for [Portal 2],"
Why are there brackets around the portal 2 title, they do this for a lot of things and I never did understand why.
They did actually, but it was ridiculous then too and I take your point.LeeshaJoy said:Christ, do other forms of media have fans who ***** about getting more? When the Lord of the Rings DVDs came out did people ***** about how the theatrical release should have included those extra scenes and that having to buy the DVD set is a ripoff?
Or one so fast that it appears in the future.insanelich said:So they've developed a very slow teleport?
Dear lord I hope nothing reaches the level of "the cake is a lie." I'm with Valve in that I think it was overdone to death, chopped up, then crudely reassembled and attached to some poorly designed animatronics, leaving nothing but a hideous mockery of the original humor. To be honest, I never found "the cake is a lie" to be that funny at all... In canon, it was a pretty serious line. It was GLaDOS's insistence on the cake being real that was humorous, not Ratman's insane writings and drawings about it. His insane writings about the companion cube were pretty funny, I'll admit, but even that got overblown. I loved how Valve troll'd the companion cube lovers in Portal 2, although I'll admit that it was a nice touch with what they did at the end.Tom Goldman said:Valve released Portal 2 [http://www.amazon.com/Portal-2-Playstation-3/dp/B003O6E3C8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1304009902&sr=8-1] on April 19 to fans that snatched it up and have probably been ravenously searching for the next "the cake is a lie" meme. Nothing has surfaced quite yet, but perhaps it'll come from DLC that will likely hit digital shelves in summer.
There was backlash over the potato sack ARG? Did I miss something? I know I heard a few "Valve's just looking to sell more of this stuff, the greedy money-loving awesome-developers," but those were pretty few and far between. Was it about how you had to pay money to join in the ARG, or was it about how the ARG really only allowed Portal 2 to be released a few hours early?beema said:I'm not sure why Valve would want to do another ARG considering the absurd backlash that occurred with the last one.
