This is unbelievable. Imagine if Nintendo decided that the FLUDD in Super Mario Sunshine was so good that they should remove jumping from the game. No wonder it takes Valve so long to make games if this is how they come up with new ideas and try them out.

Those previous ideas for Portal sounded interesting, though ultimately they probably should stick with portals, if only to keep their fans from murdering them. Though maybe they can use those ideas for elements in Episode 3 or some DLC for Portal 2. Almost pissed myself at the last line in the co-op trailer.

Poartl 2 Co-Op looks... amazing. I love how some modern games are really bringing back a small co-op element. It feels a lot like sitting in front of the key as a kid, playing with your best friend.

Portal looks like an awesome co-op experience but Portal without portals? A game that uses paints instead of portals seems like an interesting game, but not a good Portal sequel.

They had fans test it, the fans didn't like it without portals, so they put the portals back in. Granted it's nuts that they thought about it, but they had people test it first before going with it. Besides, the gun and the goo are going to be in the game anyways. Enjoy your testing experience.
