You know what? It's probably for the best that they started over. Paint wouldn't be nearly as catchy a title.
You just got got to embellish it a little. Try "Tag: The Power of Paint"
That's what I thought of when I first heard about Portal 2's goo. And now we find out they were planning to build the entire game around it? Valve, I'm scandalised.

(Unless, of course, they've hired the Tag team to work on Portal 2, like they did with Narbacular Drop/Portal. In that case: as you were, Valve.)

One of the earliest concepts that Valve toyed with was a game that revolved around the Half-Life 2 Gravity Gun and special "paint," which later became the repulsion and propulsion goo seen in the E3 Demo.
Could be a nice change for a level or two. I could just hear GladOS now. "For this test chamber we've decided to replace your Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device with a low-quality Black Mesa knockoff. Let's see if you'll notice." followed by random commentary like "We obtained this from the corpse of some scientist. I think his name was Gordon." or "Look at how easy this chamber would be if you had an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. You could place a portal right next to the exit and be done in seconds."

Edit:

"...project lead Josh Weier and writer Eric Wolpaw..."

sooo...what happened to the original creator?

That was what they did. I was just saying that Funk had no imagination.

I wasn't particularly a fan of the original Portal, kind of got bored but damn was that video awesome. Got me wanting to go back and actually play through it.

Gaving read that interview, I've got to agree with one criticism, that I think the co-op experience will probably only really work if you can find someone who's not already played the co-op, to complete it in full with you.

I feel it'll be spoiled by playing with someone who's essentially going 'right put one there, then there , then jump across and put on in the ceiling then I'll do the rest'.

I'm still excited at the prospect of playing this however and both single and co-op play look great.

Valve, this officially absolves you- at least for now- of criticism for not making Episode 3.

And having compulsion emulsion would just be the icing on the cake.

Paint wouldn't be bad, then people could replay the hell out of it and make "over 9000 hours in paint" jokes

As for the present people, I give them a cookie for common sense.
What about the people from the future ? And alternate universes ?

This kinda makes me think of D&D for some reason?

Probably because in both games id be the one running head first into traps and pushing buttons without checking them.

Yeah.... Lets just say my Fighter rolled lower then 6 but higher then 1 on his intelligence.

Only bad thing is PC likely won't be able to run it...and not a fan of console version of first one.

Need to convince friend to buy this...but how to manage co-op?
