People found this hard? Now I feel all superior and shit.

Actually, I didn't think about this puzzle at all. RPS review contained a <url=http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/images/11/apr/32por40/por11.jpg>screenshot that spoiled this one for me so I already knew the solution (which is funny since he spent half of the review talking about how he wants so avoid any spoilers, story related ones at least.)

The funny part is that thats probably the hardest puzzle chamber in the game.

He just looked at things objectively.
Everything's better with lazers!

I was hoping you'd make a funny joke.

At first I thought this was gonna be a story of how a guy went through the whole game without using on portal, or at least a very small amount of portals.
Sorry but the thing is...
<spoiler= Making a good pun is like trying to mind trick a Toydarian>
You just can't force it!

There you go!
I'm not sure whether to laugh or be embarrassed that I know what a toydarian is and the fact that they're immune to mind tricks.

I dunno, I'm with the folks who recall this room being pretty straightforward.

The two hardest for me were the first room that was all white gel (just an execution challenge loop-jumping, kept messing it up - probably a simpler solution, but eh) and the room not long after that with all three gel colors falling from the ceiling took a while moving them where I wanted them to be - that one took me longest of any room in the game.

Lasers are...well, lasers. They're kinda direct.

I also found it one of the easiest heck I even quipped "it's looking pretty easy too..." in reply to GLaDOS's looking pretty good comment.

I wonder if any of the other chambers can be solved without portals or if this is the only one?
I didn't find this one that hard either although I remember my first setup didn't work, I just needed to point different lasers into different ports.
Still, it looks like we all over-thought it huh?

A game called Portal where you don't even have to use portals to solve a puzzle. A bit ironic.

There are several rooms in the co-op section that can be completed by a single player.

That puzzle took me the longest, iirc.
I think I managed it with my first portal placement (practically walked straight through the room without thinking). My stupidity factor did come to life later in the game though, where it took me 20 minutes to work out how to get from one ledge to another.

Solution? Blue portal on my side, orange portal on the other side.

I was concussed from the /headdesk that occurred a few seconds later.
Haha. Don't worry. I did the exact same thing near the end of the game with the room with the evacuation funnel and three turrets. Took me half hour to remember how portals work even though I been using them for the past 6 hours.
The one with the blue gel too? Because that's the one I'm on about I think xD

I was losing my mind. Even when I eventually got across, it took me another 20 minutes to work out that I needed to drop down from the funnel to gain momentum.
That's the one. The sad part is I didn't even come to the realization myself. My wife came home from work, asked why I was so agitated and promptly asked why didn't I just portal over there.

I had the good fortune of watching someone else struggle with that one too.

My story is actually even more pathetic: In the room with the water pouring onto the part of the floor you're supposed to splash with blue gel, I noticed the switch on the wall when I first entered, and then promptly forgot about it. Yes. The switch that deactivates the water and is clearly labeled as such. It took me giving up and later reloading from a save that placed me outside the test chamber to notice it again.

We're in the same boat. I guess different types of minds complete these puzzles differently, resulting in different difficulties.

It's amazing how different puzzles can be for different people. I think I licked this chamber the first time in no more than 5 minutes of messing around.

However, the last real test chamber (I think it's the last one, with the blue goo and three turrets) you attempt before end-game baffled me for over an hour. I got on YouTube to look for vids of people playing that one to help me figure it out, and the first video I see was a guy nailing that section on his first try in about 5 minutes. Go figure.

It's fun to see vids like this of people finding solutions so far outside the box. It makes me wonder if this started as an attempt to simply break the mechanics, or if he inadvertently broke the mechanics simply by over-thinking the puzzle!
