I have a feeling that I will get stuck on the first Test Chamber. Portal 2 physics, although cool, look positively mindfuck.

Also, there shouldn't be a boss fight, if there is, make it so it's something with GlaDOs that wasn't as boring as the first game.

I always thought it was strange that they did all of Portal 2 before even hinting at what Half Life episode 3 would be like. So I thought, could they be connected? Perhaps at the end of Portal 2, Chell escapes and is teleported somewhere where she comes into contact with, you guessed it, Gordan Freeman.

Would explain a lot, like Portal 2 is the prologue to Episode 3 so they wanted to finish it first. I'm probably wrong but that's all the fun of speculation yes?

Cave Johnson is just the sales manager.
I think he's the CEO actually.

This is madness!

OT: Boss fights? God fucking no. The Glados fight was the weakest part of Portal.

The sooner people get over the need for boss fights (essentially the only thing in gaming that hasn't evolved somewhat in the past 30 years) the better.

GLaDOS will try to help you. A tiny bit. Towards the middle. Then she goes back to wanting to kill you.

Wheatley isn't the only active personality core.

Cave Johnson (who IS the founder/C.E.O. of Aperture) will get a little antagonist-y towards the end.

You will escape in a bathysphere to find the Borealis, and/or you will meet the G-man.

Alternatively: there will be no connection to HL2, and Chell goes off to live a lonely life, or dies. Or finds whatever remains of humanity.

Some type of L4D reference. Like a dead guy with a gun laying on a generator ;)

I speculate the soundtrack will be awesome. Because the two tracks released thus far (from the ARG) have been awesome.

I'm not sure if the first one is in the game or just for the ARG, but the second one certainly is. I love em both anyway though, they're far, far better than the up tempo tracks in portal 1 (You're not a good person, You can't escape and 4000 degrees Kelvin)

Portal 1 had some great ambient tracks mind, and Portal 2 wouldn't really be the same without that. I doubt it won't have them too, that's just the kinda stuff that sounds better when you're actually playing it, so they'll hardly be released ahead of time.

Also, Cave Song.

And Alive and Kicking (Still Alive cover, but interesting. Also part of the ARG that gave us Search and Cave Song.)

Audible Gasp!
What a revelation!

OT: Instead of a linear puzzle-FPS, the game will be a gritty third-person sandbox game about the hardships faced by Chell after her eventual escape.
She'll be forced to do whatever she can to survive in run-down Neo New York, selling her own body so that she can feed her family.
Eventually, she robs a bank, starting an huge crime epic, spanning the continental US and Canada.

Portal is centuries after Episode 2.

If G-man hasn't gordon-napped our halflife hero again, he would be long dead of old age. If the combine aren't gone by era of portal 2, I think earth is royally screwed.

Opinions. They can be different. Don't say it like it's something they need to "get over".
It is something they need to get over. And since that's something said by me, as my opinion, get over it.

When I, say, make up a statistic and try to pass it off as real in order to support my opinion on whatever the statistic relates to, then you can call me up on it.

For now, I'll just assume everyone else has the capacity to realise that something said by me, concerning something that isn't factual, is my opinion.

The first Portal - at best guesses I believe - takes place just after the events of the first Half-Life, but I'm guessing you missed out the 2 given the rest of your post.

I believe the reasoning behind setting Portal 2 200 or so years later was to distance it from Half-Life, so you're right about it being unlikely for them to be linked. Unless Valve lied about not having any connections (and a little part of me is hoping they did).
