What about a prequel?

Welcome to the Escapist!

I seriously hope so. Although I should probably get the first Portal game...I've never played it.

Chell is captured but they don't have the good sense to take away her portal gun...

I don't think you need one of those, but you should still give it a shot, its pretty good.

I hope they do something totally different, or perhaps completely change the gameplay from the first.

They will have to do something other than an autonomous robot narrating your progress through the levels, as the players will expect this. Though the player will expect some kind of twist or crazy story change either way because it's Portal. Basically I just hope it's something fresh.

We'll see.

Nah. Nightvision. Wink wink.

More on topic, a Portal sequel is do-able and nontheless, awesome. The level designs should be easy. They'll bump up the looks no doubt. Give it more of a polished feel. Maybe release some more user interactive content along with it, it'll go great.

The storyline however is what attracts most people to the game, so who knows? If they cock that element of it up the fanboys will get nasty. It'll be a great game no doubt though.

Portal is obviously set in the same universe as halflife so youre probably going to have to fight combine since the first game ended with you landing in a parking lot outside. Who knows, maybe you'll meet up with Gordon Freeman at some point.

Thank you, I feel welcome.

Anyway, I think they might abandon the project all together, and get the Portal Gun, and give it to Gordon.

Or maybe the player is outside in a world being overrun by robotic overlords. Or in space. Or a tub of jelly.

At the end of the day there are, off the top of my sleep addled brain, 50 odd possibilities for a continuation, and about the same for a prequel - and considering how revolutionary portal itself was, I doubt they'll stick to the norm.

I would like to see patrolling gun bots though.

Not bad thinking there, but basically it would be the same plot but you'd be one of the characters that died no? i think it can only go forward!

This. Except I think portal happens before Gordon wakes up in his dystropian future. Perhaps the next portal will feature Chell exploring a world that has only recently fallen to the combine and features a backstory for the Borealis.

SWEET JESUS! We might find Chell frozen in the ice in episode 3!

Well, actually, there is a plot, since we know it's set in the same universe as Half Life.

Dude. Genius. I bet Valve was planning this the whole time, finding a way to give us the backstory with out someone explaining it to Gordon in a long winded cutscene. Brilliant.

It better not have GLADOS in it. I see no reason for the computer to ever come back for any reason other than fan service.

True. And after the initial elation of hearing GLaDOS's voice, I'd be pissed beyond measure. Luckily, Valve doesn't tend to do that sort of thing.
