It seems some of the newer members tend to idolize people with higher post counts, like what they did with Furburt and Hubilub.

(Sorry, but you know you can't be left out of this argument, you chronic posters you.)

Quality is more important that quantity, which is why most would consider I don't post much in the almost 2 years I've been here, compared to some users who get 5000 posts in 3 days... or something like that.

Damn youngins. Coming in and ruining everything...

It does n't come with any sort of status.
Just more visibility around the site and more 'friends' on your friends list.

VaudevillianVeteran's got more posts. Just barely.

But she has a good reason.

WHY DOES EVERYONE CALL ME FURBERT?!

It says 'Furburt' for gods sakes! It's not that difficult!

Now, that would be an achievement. Certainly, most of the posts would be meaningless shite, and at least one would probably be punishable, but still, it'd be interesting to watch.
I did? I mean, I did! I purposely tested you to see what you would do when I misspelled your name!

'My escapist penis is bigger than your escapist penis!'

It pretty much just shows that youve been here a good while, which is a good thing because you understand the community better.

Your allso very unlikely to get trolled by a +10K poster, or even a +1K Poster.

I feel worthless with my meagre post-count!
As long as they are well thought out posts, you will be more respected here than anyone.Wit counts for more than you can possibly imagine(and grammar)

Shamefully many of my first posts have been stupid one liners, and I spent/wasted a good 300 or so posts in Forum games. But most everything since I've joined(look at the date) has been at least a paragraph of opnion, or part of an actual discussion. My near 3k posts do me pride...usually.[sub]Been suspended and put on probation quite a bit[/sub]

Vaude has the highest post count now.

Oh, and I don't find it all that important, the titles are just cool.

No post count shows the percentage of your soul the escapist owns. Poor Neonbob. His grandchildren are now soulless.
They were already going to be.
My own engines of doom already needs powering, and souls of your kin are the most potent.

Anyway, as many people before me have said, it really doesn't matter how many posts you have, as long as they are contributing to something.

I joined a while back to comment on something I can't remember. I didn't start posting much until the end of last year and most of it is on stuff that interests me with a few random ones thrown in here and there. While the titles are interesting (I want to be a Wordsmith), posting for the sake of just posting doesn't really interest me. As long as you have something interesting to say then by all means post.

high postcounts just increase your chances of being a known member of the community.
And therefore higher up the virtual food chain...

I tend to respect people who've been here longer, like us...

Does having a high post count make you higher in the ranks of the escapists, where as people like me with low post count have to fetch your slippers and pipe?
If you've got a post count lower than about 50, people tend to treat you with a bit less respect, like a kid who's just wandered into a conversation and doesn't know what's going on (In fairness, a lot of new users can behave like that, but they learn the rules pretty quickly. That, or they get banned). Past that point, your worth is determined by whether or not you've actually got something worthwhile to say. But your post count tends to correlate with how involved you are with the community, so the legenday posters are rather beloved by the rest of us. But that's because they've managed to post 20,000 or so comments without saying something dumb enough to get them banned (Because intelligent conversation just doesn't get banned here. You have to be mean-spirited, stupid, or have a slight disregard for the rules). They clearly have something to say.

All the post count can do is get you more exposure and increase people's knowledge of your existence on this site
This exposure will allow people to get some sort of opinion of you. You will be liked or hated depending on how good your posts are.

A high post count doesn't matter (he says while posting in this thread). Having a high post count basically means that people know your name and think you ruined The Escapist. Neither of which I want very much.
So I'm ruining the Escapist *gasp*

Not really, usually just means they spend a lot of time in Forum Games and/or Groups.

It does, however, make you the target of hatred by some members.
I must fully agree with you, I got my high post count in Forum Games

Status, no. You could have a really high post count and simply be good at Mod-Dodging, or a really low one and actually post something that is worth reading.

It does, however, bring your name a little more recognition if you've posted a lot, just because you've been seen around more. The number is irrelevant, it's just that you're more active and get noticed.

Unless you happen to be Neonbob..then you're just a little crazy.

I'd like to think that post count affects nothing. I'd like to think that it is quality over quantity, but it is not.
When it get's right down to it, who do you think of first when the word "post" is tossed around, someone with a high post count, or someone with truly high-quality posts?

Think about it. Do people remember the great posters like Anarchemitis, Purple Rain, Iron Ninja, and Hey Joe? I doubt it. People like them were the people that were truly quality over quality. We don't have many of them anymore. NewClassic, Labyrinth, UltraJoe, and a few others.

But when I mention someone with a quantity, MaxtheReaper for instance, a lot of people remember him. His posts were hardly high quality, he just had a high number. And people loved him for it.

I am fully aware that I am neither of those things. I rarely have high-quality posts, and I've not even reached 2000 posts yet.

Heh. Well, she's also been posting at a rate unforeseen by anyone.
I've been more introverted lately, in PMs and a few games.
I'm trying to get into Off Topic more, though.

I'd like to think not, well, maybe. I mean, I think I've been here a while but nobody knows who the hell I am because I really don't have much time on my hands to post. And I'm just fine with that :)

Don't rate me by my posts, rate me by the number of quotes on me, non angry/insulting quotes too.

Besides this is the 2nd account I've had. I was here for about a year before with few thousand posts but took time offline a while and forgot my account and pass. So post count doesn't and shouldn't mean much to anyone really.

I don't really care about post count. Too many people come on here with the goal of getting a high post count, so we end up with people racking up 1000 posts in a month and its usually nothing but spam.

And then there's the user groups now that have let some folks with tireless fingers to rack up 10 000, or even 20 000 posts in a very short amount of time. It's just not worth worrying about.
