It's tough for pretty girls not to want to be indulged in every aspect of their lives. It's likely very frustrating to lose that edge on the internet since people have to only value you for your mind.James Joseph Emerald said:Well good then. If I was a girl, you wouldn't take offence; it's because I'm a dude that it's assumed I must be implying you're doing this to seek male attention. Honestly if it was a hot guy I would be equally likely to assume he was showing off.
But I will bet a million dollars/pounds/euro/yen/rubles/rupees that you made this thread to feed your deep dark narcissistic desires. If not through direct compliments, then to ensure you're one of the prettiest girls around the site. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.
I agree and disagree. If wanting to be admired for beauty is vain, then surely wanting to be admired for intellect is just as vain? (Of course, I do not include opinions.) But I must say, I see no reason to add a picture to a name and I am inclined to believing James' theory.Nasrin said:It's tough for pretty girls not to want to be indulged in every aspect of their lives. Some of the staff were discussing this at lunch. I mentioned my frustration at the trend that women always need to be IN the picture. Like... if a dude wants to show you his cat he just takes a picture of the damn cat. If a girl does it, likely the picture is of herself holding the cat... which makes the cat more of an accessory than a subject. It's like "Oops did I happen to include myself in this photo? Coincidence!"LordDarkPhantom said:I agree and disagree. If wanting to be admired for beauty is vain, then surely wanting to be admired for intellect is just as vain? I lol'd, but you may want to try and suppress these thougths lest incurring the wrath of the Females. I pity feminists; how can they possibly gain equal rights when women behave so.. distinctly? I, for one, shall NEVER let a lady into the bus before me. (Unless she was in front of me beforehand - I'm not an assholeNasrin said:Some of the staff were discussing this at lunch. Speaking of the staff discussing this, did I get temporarily banned/suspended for this thread? I kept getting a 403 Access Forbidden error a couple days ago, right after I wrote the above.Nasrin said:Some of the staff were discussing this at lunch. Naw, you didn't get banned or anything. I dunno where you've been but Lulzsec DDOS'd us on Tuesday as part of their Titanic Tunafish assault. Everything is back to normal now and nobody's information was compromised.James Joseph Emerald said:Speaking of the staff discussing this, did I get temporarily banned/suspended for this thread? I was trying to affect a good-naturedly mocking tone, but there's a fine line between that and "flaming" and I feared some moderator had gone all white knight on my ass seeing as there was a fair maiden involved.
In any case, I was able to log in a day later and have no warnings or anything on my account, so either it was an odd glitch or another moderator decided to step in and challenge the ban. If the latter's true, and it was you, thanks doll!
Anyway, I think Mallefunction at least deserves credit for subtlety. It appears that since she initially "forgot" to post her own picture in the beginning, it wasn't at the forefront of her mind. But, if you look at the timestamps, it took less than 2 minutes for her to "remember" to edit in her own picture (since the first reply to the thread mentions how attractive she is).
Not to be all Cole Phelpsy or anything.
Sadly, sarcasm and just plain ol' good-natured teasing tends to get lost in translation in text, unless the recipient knows you personally.James Joseph Emerald said:I was trying to affect a good-naturedly mocking tone, but there's a fine line between that and "flaming" and I feared some moderator had gone all white knight on my ass seeing as there was a fair maiden involved.
Ah, that makes more sense. Can't believe I didn't notice anything about that.Nasrin said:Naw, you didn't get banned or anything. In reference to the post itself... I just wish women could learn to feel valued for more than their appearance. Yes, it's nice to be attractive and to be complimented but I'm not sure a gaming forum is the appropriate place or time for that, ya know? Just my 2 cents.
So there could be certain insecurities abound in this case, too.Mallefunction said:Unfortunately, I do have stretch marks. They are just on my thighs. I actually used to be about 30 pounds overweight. The weight is gone, but the marks remain >.<Saulkar said:Well at least you do not have stretch marks covering half your body. ;P
The similarities are striking.James Joseph Emerald said:Like, I've been on forums dominated by girls (due to my girly and somewhat feminist taste in music and literature) where my ego was constantly stroked just because I'm handsome and charming and Irish and shared their interests.
