I added 'I am sorry if this post offends anyone' to the end of a post, and I got attacked because of that. They said that that offended them.

On one hand, people will get offended at anything. And I mean anything.

On the other hand, I'm not surprised as to why some people wonder how they're offending others when their posts are clearly vitriolic and inappropriate in nature. They'd only ever really post something like that if they were that thick-headed in the first place.

I got a warning for posting "I blame Nintendo"
because the post was 'short'

I agree and was glad I still had all my limbs

My negative (and yes, very biased, thank you very much) opinion on anime and manga have given me quite some flak.

Exactly what it says on the Tin.

Are there any posts you ever had that has garnered a lot of negative feedback?

Example: I recently made a comment in a certain "Girl gets bullied to death" thread, for which I am still getting called out on.

To be fair, no Troll posts or anything that's gotten you probation, suspension, or banned (in that case, why are you still here?).

A lot of my more extreme political views, and pretty much anything that isn't left wing. I've chilled it out a bit for a reason. Simply put being a militant, and my thoughts on how wars should be conducted have not been popular, ditto for my thoughts on torture and interrogation, not to mention the fact that I'm anti-gay when it comes to gay men. Oh yes and the fact that I'm not Anti-America, and actually go so far as to express a Pro-America stance with equal enthusiasm to the Anti-America crowd.

No desire to debate any of those issues in this thread, just saying that I've expressed my share of opinions that have been pretty unpopular. Generally speaking I am polite and have so far managed to avoid starting any massive flame wars despite everything. I also tend to back off on threads that start to get too heated. Frequently I just say "we'll have to agree to disagree" after a few exchanges and leave it at that to prevent things from going too far.

I also mostly stay away from politics for this reason, and try to mostly focus on gaming issues. Politics only generally entering into things when it involves gaming, media censorship, and similar topics, where I am fairly extreme, but not in any way that has so far annoyed vast numbers of users.

I once said that District 9 was a mediocre science fiction movie at best - my god, people on this site like that movie a lot....

I suppose after one particular incident where I'd had it up to me ears with all the un-necessary hate religion was copping and I stated something like (The post was is religion rational) "Is loving thy neighbour rational, is appreciating your life rational...", I ended up copping reponses like 'The hate of gays is not rational" to which I responded with the fact that that's mostly a stereotype and not taught belief amongst Christianity (That gays comment was aimed at Christianity rather than religions in general) and one from a bloke who is pretty well known around here but whos name will go unsaid whos posts took up half the forum with hateful crap like "I trusted in religion, THEN I TURNED 12!" who brought up a big list blaming me for extremist violence and dragging down the basis of society.

That one time I defended big oil companies. That didn't go over well, but I stand by my claim.

I posted/replied to someone, somewhere that Sega Genesis is better than PS3, because it uses more than one power supply meaning it's more powerful. It was to troll a fanboy who was going on and on about how the 360 was garbage because "it has no games", but apparently a LOT of people didn't see that it was a very obvious joke. It wasn't here because I'm sure if I said that, there's quite a few of you who'd either go with it or just say "shut up Snot" and brain me with a large plastic toy.

Someone created a thread about a possible Indiana Jones 5.
I remember a guy really coming down hard on me for saying people dont like Indiana Jones 4 because they watch the first 3 films with rose tinted specs.

This guy came at me saying he was sick of people like me, that he'd been through this months before, then listed his many reasons it wasn't nostalgia.

I tried to explain what I said wasn't ment as an attack, and that I'd only been here a few weeks and this was the first mention of Indiana Jones in those weeks, so I wasn't to know this was an already well tread path.
He just kept on at me until I just said "whatever" and blocked him. Which is something I didn't want to do, but he was being a complete a#sehole

I stay out of most debates because I'm a Christian on a website where the majority opinion for the longest time has been almost militantly anti-religious. Only recently am I seeing the most obnoxious anti-theist posters getting well-deserved bans and a few more Christians coming out of the woodwork.

I mean, goodness sakes, you can say stuff about Christians around here that you could never get away with saying about pretty much any other religious group.

I once said that I didn't understand nationalism. I wasn't condemning it or anything, just said that I didn't understand it. Yet I still got shot down.

Hmm, I once posted about Captain America being a questionable idea in the current political landscape. I ended up questioning whether blind patriotism was a value worth considering, as well as the questioning whether the order of a commanding officer should supersede the morality of a soldier.

Ended up getting flak for:
a. Turning a comic book movie discussion into a political discussion
b. Not realizing the modern incarnation of Captain America is dramatically different than the original incarnation
c. Offending those who I apparently called blindly patriotic
d. Being wrong (they didn't elaborate on this point)

Fun times.

I got flak for requesting a splitscreen mode on the 360 version of Team Fortress 2. I was honestly pretty shocked.

Mainly because I don't play it on the PC.

Not liking anime. Not liking Warhammer 40000. Liking anthropomorphs (shut up, they're cool). Liking humanity. Defending United States of America. Defending religious freedom (as in, freedom to practice any official religion or none at all). The list goes on and on and on. Lynching mobs with torches and pitchforks are just unable to get enough of me, it seems.

As an aside: i always thought that Captain America's blind patriotism served the ideals of his country rather than the government currently in power (which means he'll turn on a government trying to corrupt these ideals) - maybe he wasn't always like that, but you get my point, right?

I said something like "every person has the right to start, run, and follow their own choice of political party" and applied it to the BNP (not a supporter *lifts flame shield*). Apparently freedom of speech is less popular when it gets ugly.
