Call me what you will... But, I'm pumped to see what this looks like when they start putting the armor on it... The Vet in me likes what it designed for (Rucking it blows); and the geek inside salivates at the fact we might start looking like space marines.. lol..

Looks impressive...
But at the same time it is a little disturbing.

Edit: I personally feel this will go the way of the jetpack. It will become unfeasibly costly to produce and have minimal usefulness in the field.

About f'ing time. I'm deeply anti-military however one of the reasons I am is because we never do enough to outfit the frontline troops. Iraq war could've been a whole different ballgame with better equipped troops and appropriate strategies.

Power Armor...
I'm getting the T51-B model...
It needed to be said.

Grenades will kill them anyway. So what's the point?

No offence but do people armed with pre coldwar weaponary and tanks really match up to the u.s. military I mean its sad you lost troops and all but seriously look at the iraq death count by comparioson that really wasnt much of a war.

For now there going to use it for the building/manual labor that needs to be done in the military :p The ultimate idea is for it too be outfitted with armor plates; the design concept looked eerily similar to WH:4k/Halo... Freaking awesome...

So, mechs soon, right?
Yes, indeed. An I want my flying mechs.

Seriously, though, this better have a built-in grenade launcher/flamethrower attached to the arm for the heavy model. The future is now.

Hopefully a plasma rifle or laser minigun will come soon after ^__^

Seriously, though, that's really cool. I'm excited to see what crazy stuff comes out as I get older and older.

There was a Trojan Armor suit that was basically the Spartan armor from Halo with survival gear added in and it had the magnetic gun holders on the thighs too (Chief keeps his pistols and SMGs on the side of his leg in-game).

I think it was Canadian so yay for us up here! I'm pretty sure it wasn't powered though, it was just full of ridiculous amounts of stuff (voice recorder to bring back your buddies last words to his wife, you know, if he isn't shot in the face, salt packets when your stranded without supplies, helmet mounted flash lights etc).

Something like this is already in use in Japan, if some television program was correct.
They used it to help people out of bed in a hospital IIRC. It was only designed to increase the weight a single person could lift and it wasn't very practical, but seeing a small woman lift someone out of bed without any real effort was fun to see.

It was on Discovery Channel, some program about technology in the future.

The proposed combat model would allow practically one-handed firing of most heavy weapons, such as the M249... Wild...

The suit that the US is going for is powered by two methods, hydraulics for movement and electrical for the gyros.. The Land Warrior project was technically the same as the Canadian one (or vice-versa) With the exception of the HUD. Which displayed imagery overlay with the soldiers GPS position... Imagine that on the powered suit!! Fuck yeah!
