Amazon is also sending out beta codes for those who pre-order, even though it isn't advertised on their site. I pre-ordered via amazon as soon as the CE was announced and was just sent my beta code.

So, I'm curious, how many escapist friend requests do you get zerged with when you post something like this? Or if you have any of your tags in your profile? The Escapist does have a pretty big readership, after all.

Meh... I hate Starcraft... I got into the beta and I gotta say, the graphics are awesome and I have mental orgies when I hear those beautifully remixed songs in the background... but the core gameplay itself is what I hate and it hasn't changed one bit since '98, whether is good or bad depends on if in the first place you loved SC1. As for me, I uninstalled it after 3 hours playing it. I'm glad I didn't payd a cent to play it, I was even planning to pirate it when it comes out, now I don't have the urge I had to even play the thing.

I pre-ordered from work yesterday at around 2 or 3 in the afternoon I think, and I got the email with my beta key last night, probably around 8 or so.

Has anyone heard if Gamestop has run out of Beta keys for online pre-orders? Preordered mine today and they had the beta key listed with the product this morning, but then this afternoon when I ordered it the page didn't have anything about the beta!

i just read my receipt for the beta key, it says that it expires on may 31 2010.....potential release date?

Could be a possible date for the discontinuation of the beta as well. That would not be too peasent, as it is less than a month away as I write this.

Or don't preorder, since this is no StarCraft without LAN support.

It is still a pretty great game. But it is better off as "Wings of Liberty" imo. Still though, this is like making a fourth Timesplitters without splitscreen.

It just isn't the same.

I went into my local indie game store and asked about getting a beta key to SC2. Because the girl behind the counter was honest and wanted to serve her customers, she admitted that pre-ordering from Gamestop was the surest way now.

This is exactly the kind of store that Blizzard should be helping out, not disadvantaging to Gamestop.

If someone from Bliz comes across this comment: Do something for your indie stores. Letting one national chain lock in pre-orders is not going to do good things for the marketplace.
