To anyone who read the recent Braid-related article, I found the creator's little rant to be extremely arrogant. He really does seem to think his game is the only worthwhile thing worth playing or something, and doesn't seem to think there have ever been any other intelligent games in history.

I haven't actually played these, yet (so, I wouldn't know for certain), but, could titles like Fallout, Assassins Creed or BioShock be applied to this on some level?

I can identify one game I know of that totally doesn't: Duke Nukem Forever

Also, some games might use subtlety to tell their story on some level. Like what was brought up with Dear Esther, Half-Life is somewhat like that in how it tells its story, using subtlety and using actions, rather than so many words.
