the end of the game had Tommy go through a portal which clearly indicated a sequel and a continuation of his story.

It's a bit of a mystery to me why Human Head apparently isn't following up on that. It'd be pretty simple to craft the same basic premise - lone human bounty hunter in space - around Tommy that follows up on the conclusion of the first game. Unless the feeling is that Prey is so old and unknown that it's basically irrelevant at this point, but if that's the case then why bother with the Prey IP at all?
