If that's bad acting then I guess good acting isn't different enough for the general public to take notice, shame some people won't be able to see past their own bias to really enjoy this awesome little short.
The hell does bias have to do with it? In this thread and in the youtube comments you'll find multiple people enjoying the film, but calling out the bad acting. What the hell are they biased against? Independent films in general? Koreans? Ginger women? Bright lights? After Effects?

Great mix of atmosphere, visual effects, sound, and props really drew me in. I've been following Corridor Digital and FreddieW for awhile now, also awesome to see the guy from the "honk for Japan" video awhile ago.
Two things...

Re: Your first paragraph, that's a bit unfair. They aren't saying it's a lousy short... they're saying it's lousy acting. Which it is. By far. If you can't see that, that's... odd. Very, very odd. Nothing wrong with giving a criticism, and it doesn't mean they didn't like it. I mean, hell, I criticize my favorite stuff all the time.

Re: Your second paragraph... FreddieW worked on this? I shouldn't be surprised. That guy is the fuckin' man. He's gonna go places.

One of my hobbies is drama and it is really jarring acting. Muddled up intentions and really over-exaggerated movement and expression. If you actually read my previous comment, you might find that I actually praise it because it makes the video cheesy, charming and fun to watch.

Any one else cheer for the other team, despite the filmmakers best efforts to let us know who the good guys are with a multi-ethnic dou, cool young people, red haired cute hipster chick fighting a perfect aryan-villian archetype with a graveling voice and literally faceless corporate drones?

You know, because of the theft and murder?

Also the guy should stick to music. Not that he's terribly good at that either, mind. Good voice, but no sustain. He won't make it past internet fame. Ever.

I liked it. Horrible acting and questionable motivations for the kids aside, I was quite entertained by this little piece of internet.
At least it was better than Jumper.

I like how the villains win.
This was the problem I had with this movie, two assholes broke into an unspecified building, stole a teleportation device, killed a bunch of legitimate guards, and finally got away. The thing that pisses me off the most is that we're obviously supposed to sympathize with them, whereas I was hoping they'd both die at the end.

Listen people. The girl in the short actually is an actor who you can look up on IMDB. Also, the reason why the acting isn`t fantastic is because they actually had to pay for the locales they were shooting at so they recorded the ENTIRE FOOTAGE in under 18 hours out of necessity. People should really watch behind the scenes stuff.

To be fair, these guys are youtubers working on a very limited budget. Those actors are working for free (if they do this like Freddiew, which they work so closely with technical matters they are basically partners) and the directors are mostly tech guys who have got by acting themselves (and none of their work thus far are things that the acting was the main attraction). Besides, how much worse is the acting then your average summer Block Buster (besides the big bad, that acting was just painful)?

Y'know, all the complaints about the plot and the acting are very legitimate, but when you consider the purpose and logistics they were under (make a cool action short and get it filmed in a day, paying for everything), it's not really stuff you can fairly denounce. I mean, professional, feature crap has gotten away with way more in the first place.

That was good but... Jesus Christ.

The just killed a bunch of cops because of a world changing device that they stole. They can break into anywhere they can imagine.

They were clearly the bad guys.

It's not that they were bad, it's just that they were merely decent actors working with an absolutely retarded script.

Daniel Day Lewis couldn't have made that thing work.
