Wow, people are treating a 8 minute short on the internet like these guys were applying for an Oscar.

I was entertained. It was a tech demo with a light story so it didn't seem like we watched 8 minutes of fireworks. Obviously if these were AAA actors they would be acting in hollywood.... not making free special effects videos for you guys.

The effects were great but the script was incredibly poor. If I turned something like that into my screenwriting class, it would barely pass.

My thoughts exactly. No need to be film critics about this thing, guys, it's an 8-minute youtube video with special effects and guns. You were expecting a plot with "substance" in that amount of time?

Some people have very narrow tastes.

All very good except that it's hard to root for the protagonists.

Edit: I just realized that these combat scenes are better than many I've seen in proffesionally made movies and shows.
Is it because you can actually see what's happening? Hollywood, take note.

Re: the plot: I prefer a dumb action script that doesn't pretend to be anything other than a dumb action script, over a dumb story that thinks it's smart (e.g., Vanilla Sky, Limitless, The Adjustment Bureau, Surrogates, etc.).

And thus settles the debate: women are willing to kill or let someone they know be killed just to have something shiny.

I do not understand why we would praise this stuff. It puts shame to the genre as a whole.
And what genre would that be?
Science fiction.
And what would you expect from an 8 min short on what I'm sure is a shoe-string budget?

Would this be more acceptable to you?

Man that was f'in sweet seriously.

I loved it! Action was immensely enjoyable!

The acting was not distracting enough to be bad, these guys need to make a sequel, asap!

I'm a bit disappointed really. I mean, don't get me wrong, cool idea for a device, cool bad guys, cool weapons, awesome VFX...but acting aside...this was boring. I'm on the bad guy's side, who the hell are these kids and why is ok for wanderers to just take a secret device?
If there was, let's say, a point? then ya it would've rocked, but really...i don't give a damn about those kids. At least have them be some kind of underground against the evil corp. who's making this stuff.

That was good but... Jesus Christ.

The just killed a bunch of cops because of a world changing device that they stole. They can break into anywhere they can imagine.

They were clearly the bad guys.

It's not that they were bad, it's just that they were merely decent actors working with an absolutely retarded script.

Daniel Day Lewis couldn't have made that thing work.
Agreed.

I find that it's an improvement over Prism, to say the least. My problems lie not in things related to the budget of the film or anything I explicitly stated such as the costumes or acting, but rather the concept as a whole. What I look for in a work of science fiction such as this is an intriguing story and the inventive use or explanation of the fictional element. Prism's characters and story are lazily slapped together with what seems to be absent reasoning, and the nature of the teleportation technology is never examined in a way that is even remotely amusing.

If they managed to wrangle a bigger budget, hired better actors and fleshed out the story and characters, this could be awesome. As in, i would pay to see this awesome.

What's with the negativity? OK, so they've never gone to acting school but come on, It's cool effects, cool story, and the acting isn't worse than what you find in some Hollywood productions. Come on, do you expect Inception whenever someone makes an internet video?
5 out of 5. Great stuff.
I completely agree, I thought the acting was alright and if you compare it to most stuff on the internet it was amazing. Visuals were fantastic and the last 2 mins of the video have cut off for me and I intend to go out of my way to watch it so I would say a brilliant peice of work.

There are some behind the scenes stuff on this flying around youtube aswell

The music is very much like Frozen Synapse, which is good. My favourite bit was when Val Kilmer showed up.

Any one else cheer for the other team, despite the filmmakers best efforts to let us know who the good guys are with a multi-ethnic dou, cool young people, red haired cute hipster chick fighting a perfect aryan-villian archetype with a graveling voice and literally faceless corporate drones?

You know, because of the theft and murder?
I hate it when the bad guys win.

Without any exposition as to their motivations this whole thing is random as hell.

1. "So, like yeah, let's like totally break into this corporate facility and like nose around...cuz mah Dad like used to work here a few years back"
2. Oooh shiny....enter Magpie-mode.
3. Oh noooees, we've been caught red handed....let's like totally antagonize these guys...cuz it's like...fun and stuff.
4. Bzzzzztt....OMGLOLROFLLMAO this like...totally ownz Jumper...cuz it's like sophisticated technology and... Blurgh....
5. We like...freakin teleported so let's keep it and like...not give it back...cuz we're like totally hip like that...and stuff.
6. Oh noooooeesss...a squadron of mooks....like totally weak...cuz we know Kung Fu & had weapons training since like...age 5 therefore we're like totally awesome...and stuff.
7. Oh nooooesss...Mr. Corporate Dude wants shiny stuff back...TELEPORT BITCHSLAP....
8. Roof showdown..."I'll find you" and exit and stuff.

*Sigh*...What can I say...damn kids and their anime/ manga these days...nice teleport bitchslap though.

The action and effects were nice but... urgh... By the gods, that script. I can't tell if their acting made the script seem worse or vice versa. Still, an entertaining video.

Not as bad as a some Michael Bay movies, I like lazer beams as much as anyone but the main problem is they killed people just doing their jobs to steal something?
I hate movies where the goodies are the baddies by simply being in the wrong from the start.

Still it was pretty good that point aside.
