My thoughts exactly. No need to be film critics about this thing, guys, it's an 8-minute youtube video with special effects and guns. You were expecting a plot with "substance" in that amount of time?Braedan said:Wow, people are treating a 8 minute short on the internet like these guys were applying for an Oscar.
I was entertained. It was a tech demo with a light story so it didn't seem like we watched 8 minutes of fireworks. Obviously if these were AAA actors they would be acting in hollywood.... not making free special effects videos for you guys.
Is it because you can actually see what's happening? Hollywood, take note.WayOutThere said:All very good except that it's hard to root for the protagonists.
Edit: I just realized that these combat scenes are better than many I've seen in proffesionally made movies and shows.
And what would you expect from an 8 min short on what I'm sure is a shoe-string budget?Daedalus007 said:Science fiction.sleeky01 said:And what genre would that be?Daedalus007 said:I do not understand why we would praise this stuff. It puts shame to the genre as a whole.
Agreed.Tdc2182 said:That was good but... Jesus Christ.
The just killed a bunch of cops because of a world changing device that they stole. They can break into anywhere they can imagine.
They were clearly the bad guys. It's not that they were bad, it's just that they were merely decent actors working with an absolutely retarded script.ZeroG131 said:[HEADING=1]THE ACTING IS HORRIBLE[/HEADING]
Daniel Day Lewis couldn't have made that thing work.
I find that it's an improvement over Prism, to say the least. My problems lie not in things related to the budget of the film or anything I explicitly stated such as the costumes or acting, but rather the concept as a whole. What I look for in a work of science fiction such as this is an intriguing story and the inventive use or explanation of the fictional element. Prism's characters and story are lazily slapped together with what seems to be absent reasoning, and the nature of the teleportation technology is never examined in a way that is even remotely amusing.sleeky01 said:And what would you expect from an 8 min short on what I'm sure is a shoe-string budget?
Would this be more acceptable to you?
I completely agree, I thought the acting was alright and if you compare it to most stuff on the internet it was amazing. Visuals were fantastic and the last 2 mins of the video have cut off for me and I intend to go out of my way to watch it so I would say a brilliant peice of work.Varya said:What's with the negativity? OK, so they've never gone to acting school but come on, It's cool effects, cool story, and the acting isn't worse than what you find in some Hollywood productions. Come on, do you expect Inception whenever someone makes an internet video?
5 out of 5. Great stuff.
I hate it when the bad guys win.almostgold said:Any one else cheer for the other team, despite the filmmakers best efforts to let us know who the good guys are with a multi-ethnic dou, cool young people, red haired cute hipster chick fighting a perfect aryan-villian archetype with a graveling voice and literally faceless corporate drones?
You know, because of the theft and murder?
