Come on, Americans and Canadians only for the t-shirt? I thought it was a well known fact that gaming is world-wide. Why punish people for living in another country? It's even worse when Zero Punctuation's Yahtzee comes from England and now lives in Australia so even if Yahtzee, his family and his neighbours all won t-shirts, they'd have to be turned away being told to go lick out the insides of a Marmite jar.

Edit: I only read the first page, sorry!

Susan Arendt said:
Let me try putting it another way. Let's say the shirt costs $10 and the shipping to Andy costs $10, but the shipping to Bob costs $30. (Bob must live on the moon, but it's just to make the math work.) Andy could argue, hey, you're spending $40 on Bob, but just $20 on me, I should get twice as much. And if people can argue something, they will. The literal prize - that is the shirt - is worth the same in both cases, but the prize must also include shipping, because otherwise, we could say hey, sure, you won the shirt but have to pay for the shipping yourself. (I've seen places do that, too, though usually the prize in question is something heavy like a TV.) The rules governing contests are byzantine, to say the least, and often defy common sense.

I absolutely agree with you that most folks wouldn't dream of being so nitpicky, and would be very happy just to get the shirt. Most, but not all. It only takes one jerk.

In any event, whether you agree with my point or not, the main issue is, and always shall be, there are laws dealing with shipping items of financial value to foreign countries.
Would anyone be that anal enough to complain about the concept of "unequal values"? I've never heard of anyone doing it before ever. I've never heard of someone telling me "oh, I won this t-shirt, but because there's a large difference in P&P because X country and Y country, why don't I get some money to make it an equal prize". X-Fire manages to do international prize awarding to people (which I learnt because of the interesting array of X-Fire prizes around the house despite them being an American company and me being in England, they ended up shipping it to Heathrow airport and then from there delivered to my house through Parcel-Force, I think) with no problems as far as I'm aware. What makes The Escapist that different to X-Fire?

Question: When exactly will the e-mails go out? Because I want to know if I just didn't win or if I haven't gotten an email yet.

Hello All,

All the winners have been selected for this event. So, if you were one of the 50 to receive a t-shirt or 50 to receive a badge, congratulations! I think perhaps we'll have to run another one at another milestone.

Best,
Spin
