The internet is a great place to vent and complain, I do it myself all the time. But I'm noticing quite a lot of problems, and I really should leave it alone but I have this little sharp buzzing in my eyebrows when I see the same things being repeated over and over again. So instead of addressing the individual I thought I'd just make a thread about.
Well this is my vain attempt to make the internet a better place. If I even have one person change re-evaluate the way they look at things, well I've done my job (and I didn't even get paid for it this time).
EDIT: Looking at the wall of text I really need to clean this up. Will get on that immediately.
EDIT 2: Should looker neater now.
Just because it's popular, doesn't mean it's crap are more prone to being crap.
I'm sorry but remakes are not always worse than the original. Coming first is not always better (pun intended), older does not mean better, it just means older which does not imply better or worse. Summer of the Seventeenth Doll is an old play but I'd still watch Wicked a hundred times over.
You should really differentiate between hating the actual thing and the kind of people you think would only like the movie. No seriously. It's speaks volumes about the ignorance and the false sense of self-importance you possess. Before you answer, consider whether you have a problem with the film or with the people.
"People think they're deep by liking it". A fair point, I've seen my share of those, but much of the same people who claim that statement are also the same people who think "Because I don't like it, I'm better". Allow me to clarify this statement - not liking something ONLY means that you don't like it. I analyze people for a living, it's my job, and a trick of the trade is yes you can actually tell a lot about a person from the kind of music, movies and books that they enjoy. But no, very little is actually understood about the person from what they do not enjoy. This is not the same as refusing to enjoy something, which is a very clear indicator of them being a douche.
'Hate' is such a strong word, and people throw it around far too often. Hate is an intense feeling of dislike, hate occurs when you wish something to be annihilated because it brings about such feelings of pain and unhappiness. Does a movie/game/actor/book really make you feel this way? I suppose I'm nitpicking, but hate is not a pleasant state of emotion at all, we shouldn't trivialize the word, but if you really do have an intense desire for the destruction of a media item, well... good on ya. But otherwise, for much the same reason you shouldn't type liKE dis 3vrytym u txt sum1, try to use words that more accurately depict your feelings for a movie such as - I did not enjoy it, I disliked it, I did not find it appealing etc. - honestly, it will make you all the better for it, it will increase emotional intelligence, it will better your vocabulary, increase articulation and overall improve verbal and written communication skills.
Things exist. Fucking deal with it. "Argh, I wish X never existed. The world would be a better place!" Oh really? Not even the TARDIS can travel between parallel dimensions without falling into a fucking void between space and time. How could you know that? Saying things like "it would be better if goes away, because EVERYONE hates X", lemme guess, the X you are referring to is something you considered overrated, with a really large fan base comprised of teenage ignoramus who have absolutely no understanding of what it is to be intelligent, cultural of appreciative of beauty aesthetically, conceptually or otherwise. This leads onto the next point...
People probably don't like what you like either. I know this is the internet and all, and you have your opinion, but ever notice many of the things people ***** about on here - Justin Bieber, Twilight, Transformers movies - are the things you really say on the internet and on a website where the population of those people are marginalized to the point of non-existence, things you would say to them in real life. Imagine meeting a stranger, and speaking with the same rabid, unashamed intensity you have when you're on the forums - "but it's the internet!" that's no excuse, just because everyone else is an asshole doesn't mean you should join in on the festivities.
Read these words carefully. It. Is. Okay. If. Someone. Doesn't. Like. Something. If you loved a movie and it helps you sleep better at night. Excellent, I'm genuinely happy for you. But are you losing sleep if the other person doesn't to? Your mileage may vary and you don't have to defend yourself all the time, which is why you should sometimes just leave things as they are.
