Ok, I'm a huge wrestling fan and I've noticed that the wrestling and gaming communities don't overlap very much. My question is this, are any of you wrestling fans? If so, what do you like about it? If not, do you dislike it or are you just not interested?

*raises hand* i'm a wrestling fan and i enjoy the characters and storylines. I also like the hardcore matches of the old ECW days.

Hahahahaha....

Yes, they really do. There's a mass of wrestling games out there, for a variety of platforms.

I can't speak for everyone, but WWE/F Is just a wee bit too fake for my tastes. I prefer the actual sport.

I used to like it as a kid and I don't mind the odd multiplayer match on a video game but I grew up and realised a) how horrible the story lines really are b) it is fake and c) most of the wrestlers i knew (the attitude era - wwf) have long since departed.

I used to watch wrestling occasionally for laughs, but I don't understand how anybody with half a brain could take it seriously.

I don't like sports or anything related in general. If man-to-man contact occurs, it's between swords and lost body parts being the aftermath.

there's a fair bit of overlap, Spoony at the sppony experiment has done a bunch of v-logs about recent wrestling events and uses the ultimate warrior in some of his reviews.

I just consider them soap operas for guys, just silly mindless goofball entertainment. It's fine, but I dont really watch.

If they actually wrestled instead of hamming it up on stage for most of the show I might tune in. maybe.

i thought it was cool back when i was growing up-- all the cool moves and personas.
but um, it eventually started to look like greasy, heavily-muscled men in speedos grabbing each other. it's just not how i want to spend my friday evenings.

I'm more of an MMA/UFC fan. Wrestling is just too flashy. I want fighting, not entertainment. Wow I sound sadistic.

ECW had too little story and too much blood for me. I like some story to my violence.

Lol I don't think you could get that on "reality" TV shows. XD

It's fake which people should know; it's all for the entertainment. I watch it occasionally and it's pretty good. Sometimes though the story line is just ridiculously stupid and to make it worse they have some random wrestler who is so out of touch with actually being one of the wrestlers. Anyways, if it was real and not fake, the matches would be insanely brutal and violent, blood would most likely be spilled in every match, and those high flying moves would be a rare occasion since the guy on the ground would take freakin years to get up and push the guy off the post. oh and trying to lift each other up in the air is hard as hell. The wrestler who is getting slammed has to do a little hop to make the lift easier.

But one thing, Even if wrestling is fake, by no means is it easy. It's a lot harder then most people think.

I like it. I preferd the late 90's early 2000's though, when the good people were there, like the Dudleyz, the awesome DX, Too Cool, Biker Undertaker, the Ministry, Masked Kane, the 24/7 hardcore matches, Kai-en-Tai(I loved their entrance music)ect, and the good storylines too. plus it was more real then. I know the moves are practiced so no one gets hurt, but it can still hurt people. Owen Hart died, but that was a bad stunt. Mankind really wasn't supposed to get thrown off a giant cage, and he sure as hell wasn't supposed to keep wrestling. He lost 2 and a half teeth that day. It just seems too safe for me nowadays. They also weren't afraid to do things people thought were bad. Old School DX did a lot of crazy shit, like drive a tank to a nearby WCW show. I remember an old paw-per-view where a Diva called the Kat got her top ripped off leaving the "girls" flying in the air. So, I'd like to re-iterate that I like wrestling, I just prefer the old days.

you know what i like to say about people who criticize wrestling for being fake? "Why don't you step into the ring with someone like the Big Show and see how fake it really is!"

I'm not a fan no. My cousin watches it a lot and when I go up on a weekend I'm forced to watch it. I just find it... stupid. I watched it has a child and enjoyed it, it was flashy, entertaining and good dumb fun, I even thought it was real. The show would be on Sky one and Channel four from time to time and I enjoyed watching it. When my parents cancelled the sky subscription and Heat no longer showed on 4 I lost interest. I wasn't as good a friends with my cousin back then so I didn't come up and watch it. I played a few of the games but the last one I remember playing before Smackdown vs Raw came out was Just Bring it so I kind of lost touch with all the updates.

About 5 years ago me and my cousin started to become real good friends and I starting sleeping over on a weekly (some times even daily) basis to have a couple cans and play video games. He had Sky and watched wrestling a lot and well when I heard of this I was excited... I hadn't watched wrestling in years so I was overjoyed that I'd get to watch it again. Then he put it on... "who the fuck is Ray Mysterio, wtf is a Batista... why is Kain not wearing his mask... hold on... when the fuck did Vanilla Ice start wrestling" So yeah I'd kind of lost track of the wrestlers, the wrestlers I knew where either gone or had been drastically changed, to this day when ever I watch wrestling I refer to Mysterio, Batista, Cena and most other wrestlers as new wrestlers. Also watching it now was different, it just looked bad and fake. Made even worse by the fact that my Aunty and my Cousins thought it was real, I'm watching it and listening to my Aunty shouting "What a punch" while I'm looking and thinking "his hand came no where near him... they also they keep stamping every time they hit" also it just looked illogical... why are you standing about taunting when your opponent is on the ground? finish him off.

When I started to learn martial arts it got worse. I was looking at the submissions and the grapples and thinking "That would never work, how would that be painful" then the punching too, I was wondering... why don't they duck out of the way and start countering instead of moving into the ropes... hey his head is down and he's open for a knee, why not go for it. Just was stupid to me.

The acting was worse too, these people talk smack and it bores me... just stfu and get on with it mate why is it all "Tonight, hell will be unleashed" Who in the fuck talks like that?. The story lines are poor and predictable too.. always the same shit with different characters. I also don't like the heel face turns all the time, especially with obviously good people. C.M Punk is a prime example, he's supposed to be a really good fellow in real life however they have him as the bad guy at the moment... I can't see him as the bad-guy... even when all his team mates where wailing on Mysterio last Sunday I couldn't see it.

My cousin is also starting to go off it, tells me that the stories are getting boring and that they are just repeating the old stuff over again with different characters. I thought the majority of the story lines where just repeats anyway but apparently he's just started to notice. So any way that's my reason ass to why I don't like it.

I'll watch wrestling from time to time, but I'm not into it like I used to be.
