Bullet: A usually metal projectile in the shape of a pointed cylinder or a ball that is expelled from a firearm, especially a rifle or handgun.

Storm: A heavy shower of objects
OR
A violent, sudden attack on a fortified place.

The title literally means "a violent shower of projectiles meant to kill people".
...Anybody else see where I'm going with this?

I like this. This will be great for sales. I personally won't be using it, but I think that all games should have this. See, when I game, I play in my living room which is in the middle of everything and even when people aren't in the room they can hear a lot of what goes on. So when my little sister decides to walk past the room, I don't want her to get an earful of dicktits.

Also, some people are offended by swearing and not by violence. I don't know why, but hey, you can be offended by whatever you want I guess.

Either way, this is a great idea and I wish more games did this.

EDIT: And after watching that video, I can absolutely see why they might want to put a filter on the language.

Killing people in a game in various imaginative ways is ok but god forbid they use a bad work while doing it! After seeing their last dev diary i lost interest in this game ,seems like they swear just to be cool or something ,whatever they were trying to do they looked like total jackasses.

They should just re-dub it with polite British accents. For some reason the world love our accents.
That's just what I was thinking. That would be hilarious.

Those bleeps get annoying after 2 seconds for me. They're more harmful to your hearing than a a four letter word.

Beautiful. Although, with enough creativity, an obscenity feature could be just as fun as the creatively designed dialogue samples we already have. I actually want to play this a little more, now, just to see how they handle the filter (being not familiar with the Gears version.)

I might do it. Swearing is usually a cheap way of appearing mature. Plus it grinds a bit.
Not to mention that all the ineffective censorship makes it a great deal more hilarious.

But I doubt Bulletstorm is trying to appear mature. Actually, I'm quite sure they're trying to be anything []ibut[/i] mature. Hence why I love it, I haven't seen a new "shits & giggles" shooter in ages. Same reason I can't wait for Duke Nukem Forever.

Hearing "dicktits" just reminds me of Google images serving me up with "shitting dick tits"... quite literally. *shudder*

Exactly this... the game looks like a hell of a lot of fun without having to take things so seriously like CoD and Halo.

How so? It's an option that allows people to control the more controversial elements of the game, something that's been almost universally agreed is a good idea.

I genuinely hope that they replace the words. I would love to hear one of the characters shouting "Fudge! Gosh Darn it!"
You have a Samuel L Jackson avatar...And that reminded me.

Ever hear the Snakes on a Plane censor?

It come off as having a language filter in the first place is one of the few selling points of the game. Honestly I hate it when devs pull this and make big announcements about it.

Now I could see using a language filter on an MMO cause damn those 12 year olds have some cheeky things to say.

[small]Also "dickbutt."[/small]

CoD? Yeah. Halo? Ehhhh falls a bit inbetween, it certainly has serious plotlines but at least you can clearly see it's not all serius bizniz; the colour palette, the enemies, the weapons, etc. Not to mention the multiplayer, despite raging teens (I never had to deal with those, strangely enough, maybe it's an American thing?). I never understood why people blasted Halo for being so generic and like everything else. When I look at all the modern warfare shooters that have been dominating the FPS market the last decade or so, Halo sure sticks out. It's more akin to Doom than anything else.

But of course Bulletstorm turns it to 11 and is the complete other end of the spectrum. Very refreshing. I wonder where Brink, the other well-this-is-something-different FPS, falls on that spectrum. My guess is more along the lines of Halo than CoD, but not as far out as Bulletstorm.
