Prototype 2 is Horrible

Every time I see an add for Prototype 2 I keep looking for something that they have changed. I really don't see why they even bothered switching main characters really (I mean come on we all know they could have just BSed an excuse for why Alex wasn't all powerful in this game there was no real reason to make a whole new character). The weapons are by in large the same. The enemies are for the most part the same and there really doesn't seem to be anything huge they added in to break up the monotony of it.

The problem I ran into with Prototype was that after you finished the main plot mission there was really nothing to do... I mean sure you could dick around for a few hours but it gets old pretty fast and there's really nothing too compelling to keep you playing.

I guess all I really want to know is do they say ANYTHING about what happened to Alex's sister?

Oh god, that Live action trailer was PAINFUL to watch. I swear some of these live action trailers are worse than fanmade live action clips.

Oh it's out? I really haven't been keeping up to date on release dates lately... Well I wasn't gonna buy it anyway, Prototype 1 was ok but I wasn't hopeful for a decent sequel. Tis Activision after all XP

I have a shitton of League of Legends to play anyway XD

The quest to master Evelynn continues... Ridiculous invisibility ftw! Yes it can be argued that she's underpowered but I DON'T GIVE A FUCK damn she's fun! I haven't seen anyone rage at me for picking her anyway... This is solo unranked though. 'S not like team composition has any place over there
Man, if you really have a hardon for invisibility, just jungle Shaco, and wait for the stealth rework >.>

OT: Prototype Was an awesome game, but I haven't really been following the sequel. Don't see what it could do differently.

So, what, I'm the only one who actually likes Prototype 2?

Seriously, everyone's all like "Oh, yeah, I knew it was going to be awful" after reading the OP's post. I don't see why everyone's agreeing with the OP even though they themselves haven't played the game.

It's fun. I like the first one and I'm liking the second one too.

Saying Prototype 2 is worst then AMY is going way ahead of yourself.

Heck i like the game. I like the non-sense chaos it gives. The controls work fine (at least for me), the story is flawed has well has the A.I. (yeah i admit that), but i am having fun. I like the way you level up and the way you are a god in the battlefield, a complete destructive beast.

Just because you didn't like it or don't know how to play it, doesn't mean it's bad and that everyone should hate it has well.

So Keep Calm, Relax and go play something else.

I'm liking it... i can obviously see some flaws in the game but i'm honestly liking it. I love the destruction and god-like powers to make chaos everywhere...

People need to see it more has a senseless chaos game, then has a story driven campaign (my opinion).

The biggest issue i had was with the tutorials... too many tutorials over simple things, made me wonder if the creators of the game think the casual player is a really retard moron.. xD

That's a good point. It kind of does play out like a horrid fanmade trailer and that's probably why it irritates the crap out of me.

It looked really really bad in the short gameplay video I saw a couple days ago, too bad really because I quite liked the first one and was planning on getting the second one when the price dropped a little bit, guess I'll give it a miss now though.

I remember watching the first 30 minutes of gameplay. It's like if someone goes
"Okay, we have an average game with lots of potential. Let's make it look worse, run worse, fill it with even more Quick time events, and make everything awkward as fuck."
"But sir, that's a terrible idea!"
"Fuck off, Jenkins."

Prototype was a fun game filled with not terribly much potential. It's basically a repeat of their Incredible Hulk game in which you smash stuff up. Story-wise, they can't repeat the mystery they did originally, because they already explained everything.

Going in, I was expecting pretty much a reskinning of the first game and that's what it's shaping up to be. They've tweaked a fair bit, added a couple of powers and enemies; but I wasn't expecting things to be terribly different on that front. They've established a universe in the first game and they're pretty much obligated to just sprinkle a few new things on top of it.

Graphically, I think it looks pretty good. There's a lot more variety to the city (the first game was pretty much standard-issue New York) and the city's traffic actually feels kind of like you're in the middle of an outbreak... instead of it being business as usual while ignoring the infectious mutants slaughtering people across the street.

Control issues are still present. The camera still does weird things in the middle of melee combat, you still end up running up walls you didn't mean to, and so on. But so far I'm running into the same issues I ran into in the first game. I can see them attempting to add some of Arkham Asylum's combat style into the fights, but racking up combos in fights has never been the focus of the game, so it's a rough system that's undermined by the wonky camera.

Haven't noticed any quick-time events in the early going, apart from the tutorials which were just introducing you to the basic controls. The first game did a better job of throwing you into the middle of things. First giving you a taste of the powers to come with a chaotic (but ultimately simple) battle; then layering on your powers until you pass your final exam by taking down a chopper.

It's Prototype. It's about giving the player godlike powers and turning you loose without moral consequences. It's still piss-easy. It's still got the emotional resonance of a ham sandwich.

Good thing i didnt preorder like i intended to...

Seriously Radical got halved last year and theyve been forced to pitch in on Call of Duty on top of doing Prototype 2. Is it any surprise that this went wrong?

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me.

They could have made it a million times better than the first game, and it would still be the second worse game of all time.

Captcha: how about that! Yes, how about that indeed?

Kind of off topic but that ad for the gamestop pre-order always bugged me. The first game was one of the most easy Ms I've seen since Splatterhouse and the second one didn't seem like it was going to tone it down at all. So why make a ad (and pre-order ability) that's aimed at fucking four year olds?
I don't think I have seen this ad.
What was the ability?

That's right, you kick people in the butt... to death. There's another ad like this too.

What's funny about this line is that's basically the EXACT story I gave Prototype 1 in my head while I played it.

OT: Prototype 1 was fun for a while, but it wasn't good enough to have me come back for a sequel. Looking at trailers it looks like more of the same, and that's fine for people who enjoyed the first game. As for myself, I'll stick to getting my ass kicked by Dark Souls and Nethack.

I predict this game is going to quietly sell well. As for word of mouth I'm just going to have plug my ears cuz I can't trust the gaming community with this game. Not one of you jerks, not yet.

The trailer alone looked absolutely shit. Plus, when I heard Johnny Cash's rendition of Hurt playing in the background (one of the only truly emotionally affecting songs I've ever heard) it just pissed me off. Unrelated, I know, but I say good riddance. I hope it under-performs.
Yeah, the ad with hurt didn't make much sense, I mean its really not the kind of game a song like that works for. This is how you use hurt in a trailer.

Well, that certainly has a different tone from the ad I keep seeing.

I usually pay attention to the user reviews on Amazon, since they seem to have a high customer-to-fanboy ratio. Just look for recurring complaints in mildly negative reviews. Dismiss any that say "worst game ever" because only fanboys say shit like that.

Prototype is what it is. If you didn't get bored by the gameplay of the first one, chances are you'll enjoy this one.

I am disappointed that the developers couldn't come up with a better story than "Boo hoo, He killed my family, I'll justify it with heaps of murder", It would be nice to have a character with who is mentally unstable and believes everyone is full of candy, so it's his duty to empty candy out of people for the children.
Especially since you're basically playing a sentient virus. Why would it have to have remotely human motivations, at all? Angsty dude with super-powers is possibly the least interesting direction they could have taken that character in.
