Prototype thoughts.

I don't think i'm gonna get it. I could get it for my PC, but i prefer those kind of games on consoles, and since it's not coming for wii, I don't think it's gonna happen.

Would've gotten it if i had a console that could play it.

I am getting for my PC and just using the wired 360 controller XP

ok, i'm gonna have to figure out how to do that.

According to the people here and anyone else I have asked, all you do is plug in the usb controller, and install the correct drivers.

so I buy an x-box usb controller, plugs it in, find drivers and the game will automaticly figure out that i wanna play witha controller?

If this is true then i'll definitely be getting prototype

all 360 wired are usb I think, just make sure it's microsoft and not some off brand shit. You install the drivers as soon as you plug it in. I think it is similar to some headsets in that aspect.

Both Windows Vista 32-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit are supposed to find the Xbox 360 controller drivers and install them automatically when you connect the controller for the first time. This doesn't always work flawlessly, so if this isn't an automatic process, the Microsoft Gaming site offers versions of the Xbox 360 controller drivers for all versions of Windows Vista as well as Windows XP.

Prototype is gracing the shelves in a little over a week.

And before i commit to buying it, i was wondering what The Escapist community thought of it.

The only problem I can see is this:

It says the enemy is always looking for the Infected, which means they'll probably always be Firing at Alex.

I mean yeah, beating the living hell out of anything in your way is fun, but maybe if you just wanna calmly parkour through the city, it'd just be weird to have to dodge every enemy that you come across.

And I seem to hear conflicting things about the release date. Everyone here and the wikipedia page BOTH say the 9th, yet i see in other places the 10th.

From what I've seen and read, Blackwatch will notice you more or less depending on what you do and the state of the area. If you're slicing and dicing down a busy street then Blackwatch will be on your arse pretty quick. If the area is in a state of alert then they're going to open fire as soon as they see you. Some areas will develop into heavily militarised zones in which the obvious will occur. If you can snatch the body of a civilian out of sight then you can lose them. As for calmly traversing the city then I believe it can be done if you don't do things out of the ordinary when civilans can see you, staying high should be safe. Also the 10th is the release date for Australia, the 9th is for the US and the UK's is the 12th.

Don't hold me to the game details, I'm not certain.

Some people on Shacknews are saying that the 360 version got leaked a while ago, and apparently it's buggy and glitchy as all hell. Which would explain the total lack of reviews so far. I'm going to adjust my expectations accordingly.

Certainly looks impressive, but then so do most things prior to release. The lack of reviews is a concern, I'll wait for those before making my decision whether to get it.
