"Prove"? Proof is for children and long-dead Greeks. Nowadays we deal in evidence instead; it's far more robust to sophistry.

Reality is unique to each indivudal. What each person thinks is real is real. Physical and concrete things influence those thoughts. I am real because I know I am, and you are real to me because I recognise your existance.
therefore a child's imaginary friend is real within the child's reality, but not in others? but a reality is a nebulous thing. an insane man may not exist in his own reality, but he does in others. intersting stuff. I suppose by this argument religous people can say "God is real to me, therefore is real within my reality"

I don't actually exist, to be honest.

If you see any posts by me, it's probably just a figment of your imagination.

well I know my mind exists because I am right now thinking about whether or not I exists and my body cannot function without my mind so it exists so yes I do in fact exist

Yepp, I exist for I am the one writing this post.
All of you, however, are a different story...

A wise, old woman by the name of Jocasta Nu, working in a library on Coruscant once said, "one thing you may be absolutely sure of - if an item does not appear in our records, it does not exist" (Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones).

If the events of the series took place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I could not possibly be in the archives. Therefore, nothing exists, and thus it is impossible to prove I exist.
Ah, the Chewbacca defense.

I just finished learning about Descartes at the beginning of last sememster, and I hated every word he said. But basically, Descartes says that you can prove that everyone else exists, because God's not a deceiver, and if that's the case, then the rest of the world must exist more or less as it appears. There are some gaping holes in this, though; cookies if you can point out one of them. :D

Also, speaking of Jocasta Nu: Am I the only one who's bothered by the fact that George Lucas named her after Oedipus Rex's wife/mom? *shudder*

Dubito, ergo cogito, ergo sum.

Responding to guy above me:

Only the first half of the Meditations are worth looking at. Descartes just starts to cover his own ass after the evil genius theory because he is worried about the Catholic church going after him like they did to pretty much anyone who disagreed with them.
