Final Fantasy. All of them suffice.
Description? There is a fantasy and word that it is the final one. They lied.

Shadow of the Colossus may be able to go over 30 hrs. I only played that a couple times and never finished, so someone tell me if I am horribly, horribly wrong.

EDIT: Whoops, missed the RPG thing. Yeah, go with Final Fantasy for the RPG thing.

Er, I really want to go outside that description and say Sly Cooper if you count the whole series.
Man, those games were so damn good.

Indeed.

As to the OP, you just described Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts really...

Maybe even Shadow Hearts and ... here's a list from 1-Up.

All of them are quite sound games... though Magic Pengel and some PS1 games make the list for a reason that goes beyond my mortal mind...

Persona 3 FES or Persona 4 - both will be cheap, and they've got leveling systems that are pretty unique.

Plus, both games clock in around 50 hours of gameplay and they're a ton of fun to play.

Suikoden V

This is actually a prequel to all the other Suikoden's (except 4, but it takes place like 300 years later) so don't worry about jumping in in the middle. Suikoden V tells the story of the Prince of a Queendom being unexpectedly thrust into authority whenever one of the kingdom's two corrupt noble houses makes a bid to seize power. Despite having no official authority within the Queendom, you become a beacon which the upset populace rallies around.

Highlights:
- RPG in which the plot actually makes sense. There is a -reason- why you're the only one who can stop the big bad
- The storyline is more plot-focused than combat focused... most of your levelling occurs in dungeons rather than annoyingly frequent random battles as you walk around (there -are- still random battles, but they aren't forced on you as often as many games)
- Periodically a duel appears, which unlike other games isn't just a battle with one character and one enemy, but a special system for one-on-one combat.
- Throughout the game you recruit a lot of characters (up to 108 actually) and are periodically able to utilize them in battles. These don't use standard battle rules, but instead have your unnamed followers form battalions which your named characters lead, and it turns into a "RTS" segment.

Get the Ratchet and Clank games, Jak and Daxter games, and God of War games.

Or final fantasy games, like what many others have said, those basically match what you described.

Anything developed by Nippon Ichi is good. Both of the Disgaea games, Makai Kingdom, and Soul Nomad and the World Eater are all great RPGs with entertaining plots that can definitely last you more than 30 hours. I'm not sure how expensive they are, or if you can easily find them, but if you fancy yourself a massively huge strategy RPG, you can't get any better than these games :D

Suikoden V
Seconded. Suikoden V is probably my favorite PS2 game.
Suikoden III is also a very good game.

If you're okay with strategy RPG's (ie Final Fantasy Tactics), I recommend pretty much anything published by NIS: Disgaea, Disgaea 2, La Pucelle Tactics, and Phantom Brave. There's also Odin Sphere and GrimGrimoire (which uses something more along the lines of RTS for actual combat).

How about Valkyrie Profile 2?

Actually... if you haven't played -any- Suikoden games, then you might also play Suikoden IV. Suikoden IV is, hands down, the weakest of the Suikodens... but if you haven't gone and gotten yourself spoiled by the really good Suikodens (V and II) then you won't notice as much, lol.
