Metal Gear Solid 3

I'd recommend the limited edition Subsistence re-release but they are quite hard to find + more expensive though the 3D camera makes it much more user friendly to gamers who are not so used to classic MGS controls (the camera always points north).
but yeah, it is a really original MGS game and has great re-playability especially with increasing difficulty, all the camo unlocks, easter eggs and hidden weapons and special items. No alternate ending though :( Overall I'd say it's the second best MGS game next to the original MGS1. It also has a fun mini-game based on Ape Escape.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica-X

Hmm, don't have a Dreamcast? Well the PS2 version is just as good and could be considered the last "classic" Resident Evil game before RE4 and RE5 when all third-person-shooter, RE4 is still one of my all time fav games but I like the classic Resident Evil (you can find more of that on Gamecube with the RE1 remake plus Resident Evil Zero*). not so much re-playability though but it's a fairly long game with all the puzzles and intrigue and separate intertwining story-lines.

Red Dead Revolver

LOVED this game and especially the spaghetti western feel, it also is good for re-playability as you keep weapons + money from 1st playthrough where almost certainly you have not reached level cap in one playthrough.
I will have to check some of these out, also i will ask my good friend about the MGS series as he is a good fan, do you think it would be anjoyable for someone who has never played it before? But i guess it should be, otherwise noone would buy the games :p

I really wish I still had it instead of TS3.

I want to find Metal Gear Solid 3 cheap to play again before I ditch the system as well.
What's wrong with TSFP?

OT: Not one of you ingrates mentioned Ratchet and Clank! >:C That series is a classic in the making. That's like the Mario of PS2, except with guns and guns that turn enemies into sheep. For shame people!

Also
God of War 1,2
Sonic Mega Collection
Silpheed Lost Planet
Ace Combat 5
Armored Core 2
Metal Slug Anthology

Still a fun game but I remember feeling it really lacked compared to TS2. It's been a while but from what I remember I had a big gripe with the maps when compared, none of them really stood out. The first campaign mission of TF2 I loved, I liked being stealthy and I found the third had less stealth options/levels. The dialogue was too corny in the third as well I think, TS2 was corny, but not over the top cheese.

It's been a while though so I'm not sure exactly what it was, but I think those are the reasons I preferred 2.

I can't believe your sold your PS3! PC gaming has its place, but the ease of starting up a console game, if you have 5.1 surround for it, big TV and a comfy chair. (Although, nothing to date hit me on console like Diablo... Baldur 2 had similar gameplay, but not nearly as good).

On topic: not a great game, but my kind of game that I greatly enjoyed; Lord of the Rings Third Age. Similar to FFX in some ways. (Gameplay wise).

Since nobody else has said it yet, the entire Legacy of Kain series, specifically Blood Omen, Soul Reaver and Defiance, while you need to play Blood Omen 2 and Soul Reaver 2 for the story, they weren't as good as the other titles.

Prince of Persia Sands trilogy has to be on there.
MGS trilogy were awesome.
God of War 1 + 2
GTA and it's many variants
Resident Evil 4

Actually this is now quite depressing, I've still got a PS2 with a shed load of games and I can't think of any others to suggest, I may have to look through the collection again.

God of War 1/2
Kingdom Hearts 1/2
Shadow of the Colossus
Tetris Worlds
Grandia series
Dark Cloud
Okami
Katamari
GTA: Anything
Time Splitters was pretty good
The Medal of Honor games
Prince of Persia trilogy
Armored Core
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 2 (it wasn't that bad)
Gauntlet Dark Legacy (for the multiplayer in you!)

Definitely get:
-Psychonauts (ps2)
-Beyond Good and Evil (ps2)
These were two amazing games that went almost completely unnoticed by the public..shame on us
Also look into the Silent Hill series, Ratchet and Clank series, Jak series, Devil May Cry (definitely not DMC 2 though), Kingdom Hearts, God of War, Fatal Frame (for survival horror), and Viewtiful Joe series (originally for Gamecube, but the PS2 ports were ok enough to get)

Everyone says FFX.
Am I the only one to see how flawed that game actually is?
Go for an Ace Combat game.
PEW PEW shoot people out the sky!
Or play Crash Bandicoot, for the PS1 but PS2 can play them!

That's cool, I always say enjoy what you want, I just wanted to know why you liked it better. I considered FP to be a improvement in every way, I simply wished it had all the songs and all the MP maps.

Every game is flawed. FFX is still one of the better JRPGs out there.

Small thing about MGS and my persona recommendation>

here is the Chronological order:

MGS3
MGS1
MGS2
MGS4

As you can see, MGS2 and MGS4 take place after MGS1 and of course don't affect MGS1 or 3 and really don't have much to say about those events.

In fact MGS1 wraps the series up quite nicely, it has multiple endings where different characters live or die (which makes sequels kinda irrelevant) and was not planned as a series nor sets up for sequels. It ends on a relative high note

overall I'd recommend you don't Play MGS2 or MGS4 AT ALL, ever, nada, just act like they don't exists, and this is coming from a hardcore MGS fan. Mainly Because MGS2 is - strangely - a ripoff of MGS1 yet you don't even get to play as Snake, no Spoiler to say the first 30 minutes is Snake, then next 9 hours you play Raiden (worst. protagonist. EVAR) in a game that is boring, derivative and meandering with just a plain Bullshit plot. MGS4 just ends up trying desperately to fill in the MASSIVE plot holes from MGS2 while at the same time being both completely ridiculous and insignificant plot wise.

MGS1 and MGS3 have REALLY high stakes and have epic plots that largely resolve around End of the World via nuclear war scenarios. They have proper intrigue, drama and far superior musical scoring. I cried at the end of MGS1 (I was only 12) for how beautiful it was and how I felt for the characters... but MGS2 made me FUKKING RAGE at how retardedly stoopid it was!

I'd recommend MGS1 or MGS3, they are separated by 40 years chronologically and plot wise (I know you've probably heard this a thousand times before) but it doesn't REALLY matter which one you play first and I mean that. You play the Big Boss in MGS3 and then you play his "son", Solid Snake, in MGS1. They really do just compliment each other and are unique without being derivative of each other.

MGS1 and MGS3 have really epic boss fights, they are quite far fetched and walk the fine line between awesome and ridiculous (a line MGS2 walked on the WRONG side of) but the bosses require skill, technique and not simply shoot and circle-strafe till they die... nor is it just one little thing that makes a boss fight over in seconds (as a problem in MGS4).

So the lesson:

AVOID MGS2 and MGS4 LIKE AIDS

MGS1 + MGS3 are THA BOMB!!

Might I point you both to the Spoony one's opinion of Final Fantasy X, and I think he'd call any description of FFX of "Flawed" as being the understatement of the decade.

Yeah, and if you want more comedy gold intense mental suffering, you can see his review of Final Fantasy 8.

Needless to say, I think ShroomMinus will like these videos more than Amnesiac.

I played Final Fantasy X though quit on the 5th hour... as Jesus Christ I could NOT FUCKING STAND Meg Ryan Titus and how the cast is full of characters who are on par with Jar Jar Binks of annoyance level. That and the plot just did not hook me like Final Fantasy 7 or 9 did.

I say just play all of them in the order of the numbers. The story may be a bit ridiculous, but it still makes sense. Every one of the games has enjoyable gameplay, characters (Raiden...ehh, not so much), and cinematics. Just play all of them, not like the story will be completely ruined.

Okami, Dragon Quest VIII, Kuon, Resident Evil 4 (if you don't have it on another system), God of War, Black, Ico if you can manage to find it, Shadow of the Colossus, and Silent Hill 2 and 3. Those are all I can think of off the top of my head, for the moment. Oh, and Bully was surprisingly good as well.

Metal Gear Solid 3
God of War
Silent Hill 2 & 3
Devil May Cry (all of them are good, to be honest)
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Resident Evil 4 I don't care if you haven't played the others. Play that one. Definitely the best in the series. (Though I played it on gamecube, I'm sure its the same)

I'd add Final Fantasy X, but you've already said that one.
Probably all of those have been said already.

I don't think you need to hate Final Fantasy in order to enjoy Spoony's review of them. I love FF10, but that doesn't mean I can't take great pleasure in watching someone tear through the tremendous amount of cheese that cluters this game.

The second part of that review is taking quite a while though, damn it.
