Well, to be honest, I would rather put in and watch Star Wars on my Xbox360 rather then a MGS, because it's a better movie.
Hell, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a better film that MGS. And whats up with the five sequels? Plus, how come they were all straight to DVD? Not even the first was in the cinema!

And, Those random and really rare scenes where you have to interact with movie? What was that about?

Also, Kiefer Sutherland would have been a better actor for Snake.

OK people .. we've all realised that there is no REAL console war apart from the petty shit going on with developers ... 360, PS3 and WII owners all agree with each other and it's all about CURRENT budget for people at the time ... WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF MICROSOFT AND SONY WORKED TOGETHER TO MAKE A CONSOLE????????
As soon as they launch it, Jesus will return and take it with him.
What, and leave Ninty in their combined dust?

Step 1 - Limited incomes
Step 2 - Make purchase
Step 3 - One of the other consoles gets exclusive game
Step 4 - Envy

Envy is where you got the problem. Envy creates much hate in the world.

Its to do with buyers remorse - people who own one console want to feel as though they chose the "best" - when of course none of them are better than the others.
Especially when consoles/computers are becoming more expensive ($1000 for a PS3 on release? What the hell?)

I think D is right on the money. Some people don't think they made the right choice, so they try and force people to think the other way round so they feel comforted.

Really, it just drives people away.

My father was telling me about the "Console Wars" back in the day of the Genesis and NES. From what he described, it was all playful and fun, instead of today's ruthless bashings from fanboys. I just find it funny that this, Being arguably the most balanced console generation, is spent by people bashing each other's consoles and being major pricks. It's stupid, really.
We used to dream of a game featuring both Mario and Sonic where they could team up to take down Bowser/Eggman to an awesome 80
s soundtrack. Man those were the days

It's kinda weird to have part of a franchise exclusive to one console and another part exclusive to another. It's like saying flipping fans on both consoles the bird. Just seems like a bad business decision. There isn't much point to owning both a 360 and a PS3, the consoles are so similar.

I don't own either console, so it makes no difference to me.

That sounds.. ummm.. Out of sight? Did people use that in the 80's? :D

I don't like MGS but more people get to play it this way so I think it's great. Personally I think it's because 360s have outsold PS3s on the American market so they want to be able to sell more titles in the US (this is what Square has said about FF13).

This is prolly the most simple and brilliant answer you'll ever get.
Here's an amazing thing about the simple and brilliant answers - they tend to be wrong.
Explain.

I have the perfect gaming system combination. Ready? This will solve almost every one of your problems. Wii and a Steam account
Can't run Steam on water vapor.

I'll quote Scott Adams. If I ask an informed person about why a rock falls to the ground, he will spend several hours with an explanation involving mass, attraction, Isaac Newton, and particle physics. If I ask a stupid person, they'll likely tell me "Because the rock is heavy". One is undeniably simpler, but which one is right?
"Rock is heavy" is simple but not brilliant. "The rock is attracted to the Earth by gravity;" simple, brilliant, and correct.

Then please explain to me how he is wrong. It wasn't because he used few words i praised his post, it was cause he gave a great explanation.

i agree the star wars movies are better than the mgs one! oh wait a second the mgs one doesnt actually exist, there are the escape movies with have the character snake was based on but thats it. so thanks for making me waste space in my memory with bs :)

oh heres one, i prefer having sex with my fantastic wife rather than watching star wars :p

back on to the topic, i work part time at gamestop (no i dont think im the eternal well of info on games XD) i own a ps3 and an xbox i do prefer my ps3 but i really like my 360 also, anyway i started speaking to a customer about the ps3 and he said he hates them i asked why and he said "because i do!" while saying this he seemed to have almost a religous hatred born through obvious ignorance,it was almost as if a ps3 had murdered a family member or something, i didnt press the matter because his mind was already made up. i think this is a great shame as i love games from all (well almost all) genres and platforms. people just dont seem to realise that variety is the spice of life and trying a bit of everything gives you a well rounded idea (hopefully) of the gaming medium, this also works for music, books, movies and food and many other things.theres nothing wrong with having your favourite of course but it doesnt hurt to dip your toes into the chaos now and then.

i also think its great that the 360 is getting a mgs game the more the merrier^^

apologies for my grammar

Some people are immature and take owning only one console too seriously. I only have a 360 and I love the thing but I definitely am intrigued by a goos handful of PS3 exclusives.
It didn't used to be. It used to be about the games and graphics.

Weird how only only of those things are any good now.

The PS3 has better hardware + bluray (games are larger), that's why I think it's a better console. Exclusives and games have nothing to do with the game machine itself. You can say "I like the 360 due to better exclusives", fine, but don't claim it is a better machine because of that.

Neither console is "powerful", not compared to a PC. But you get an impressive amount of power compared to the money you pay.

Lastly, half the reason I bought my PS3 was for bluray, to watch movies with.

Technically my PS3 that I won in a Sydney Morning Herald competition was the best value console I have ever owned because I won it for free, but on the other hand my DS Lite which I paid for has more games I am interested on it.

It is fine for my friends to love the Wii because even though my motor skills makes the Wiimote hell for me to handle my more able-bodied friends have gotten a lot of fun out of it.

PSP is good for watching AVI movies on, and Xbox 360 can be hooked up with other people's 360s at my bro's uni dorms for local multiplayer chaos.

The PC on the other hand is what my bro's uni buddies game on the most because of Team Fortress 2 and WoW. So all up this has been an exciting games generation to be a part of.

I mean, seriously guys. I remember when it was considered reasonable for the average bloke to own a Playstation AND a Nintendo 64. Only fanboy flak I recieved back then was for being the resident Game Boy fanatic, whereas all my friends moved on to non-handheld consoles.

I never really saw a difference in quality between Bluray and HD, but maybe that's just me. Seems a waste if they look the same.
