Perfect, now I have a reason to get a new TV. This justifies the purchase enough for me. Time to start saving.

3D gives me headaches after 20 minutes or so, so I hope there will still be 2D support for all games.

Ummmm.... Keane, you made a mistake, it's not a 2000Hz HDTV you need, just a 200Hz. I was suspicious because I've never even heard of a TV running faster than 200Hz. So it's not like we'll all need some mythical TV that doesn't exist yet, most of the current high end sets will do just fine.

I'm happy, this was just the excuse I need to buy a 200Hz tv, I better start saving.
ah thatnk god, i thought my new 200hz Tv was only 10x too weak for 3D :p

thx for clearing that up

It probably won't happen.

Think about it. If a single EA game doesn't support the feature, they won't let Sony use it on any games.

I thought you could download a certain programm for pc, with which you can play games like L4d with 3D glasses.
Actually it was a special driver but yeah 3D was an option for Left 4 Dead if you wanted to do a fairly hefty amount of registry editing and new were to download the driver. That said it doesn't seem like processing any game to operate in 3D all it requires is that you change the way your GPU processes images, and anyone that thinks this is generation breaking is in for a big disappointment, I predict Microsoft will quickly offer a 3D option of their own.

Thats cool and everything, but don't you need a certain type of TV for it to work correctly? If so, then I don't think people are going to go out and buy a new TV just to try it out, especially because they're probably really expensive.

y the way, NVIDIA says hi. I don't even have the money for that, so god knows I won't have the money for a PS3, 3D glasses, a 2000+hz T.V. and games.
Well I guess the time is coming upon us...

On another note, what is this Hz crap? Is my tv useless now? Its HDtv 1080p...I saved up expecting it to be good. Which it is!...just not good enough for 3d...

Oh, yeah, God of War in 3D... More like - God of War - Headacke in 3 Minutes.
Thats an obvious problem. Some people will be able to adjust, others will never be able to handle it...

As for the idea that God of War 3 will be in 3d...well I still suspect that this may be too expensive for developers to adopt. Maybe I'm wrong, but if it is, chances are your only gonna see big sellers in 3D... [http://vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?console=PS3]

Assassin Creed 3d...hmmm...

Of course, the next step would be 3D without any glasses at all. Apparently, there is a 3DTV in development, but it's a long way off.

Meh.

If it's like the new 3d movies, sure it's an improvement on the anaglyph technique. (which was popular in the 50's... Old, old stuff, that.)

I however, want to see this in action:
http://www.i4u.com/article9159.html

Finally, a system where you can get 3d without needing to wear glasses, and it's holographic to boot, meaning less headaches because it properly accounts not just for parallax, but for focal depth too.

It's been coming. I saw it coming when imax became big.
I was just hoping that they would wait until we didn't need the glasses which I'm guessing will be easily gotten if they go ahead with selling the TVs.
At least it's just the TV and firmware updates. After pushing Blue Ray through, it would be ridiculous to try launching new media.

Sony makes the high-end TVs that will play these things, so it makes sense that they would use the PS3 to push other products. I doubt Nintendo will go to 3d because it's neither profitable nor is there any demand for this. Microsoft would probably be best seeing how this plays out. Copying the Sony shouldn't be hard for them as they just throw money at any problem.
