To me the only Xbox worth buying is the Elite which costs just as much as a PS3.

These were the prices as of Dec. 23, 2008, at a Best Buy in Nashua, NH, USA.

And don't tell me "oh well if you want the 80GB version they're the same" because clearly that's not the version being given the shelf space. Also it's interesting to point out that the Elite has more hard drive space than the version of the PS3 that's the same price as it.

Last I heard/checked, they're selling a $400 80GB PS3. It's not wether it's in stores, it's about what's available, and the cheapestn PS3 is $400, same price as the most expensive 360 which is probably the most reliable.

I guess I'm not enough of a fanboy. I have ps2, psp, & ps3 but I really don't care how many they sell. As long as I have plenty of great games to play (which I do) and the thing doesn't spontaneously combust I don't care how lousy their business plan is. I'm not a sony shareholder and I don't have any sort of emotional investment in the brand.

That aside, I think they hit the nail on the head with the BlueRay comment. While it was a factor in my purchase (when I got my ps3 I had just gotten an hdtv and I wanted to open the thing up... figuratively of course) I don't know many others who own an hdtv. A lot of people bought ps2s because they needed a dvd player and they figured, might as well. HDTVs aren't common enough that the same amount of people are likely going to need a BR player they way they needed a DVDplayer.

BTW-This is probably the biggest piece of flamebait I've ever seen on this site. I guess the people here can get just as fanboy as the other sites.

Thing is wouldn't xbox 360 have bigger sales figures as they break and people by another sometimes up to 4/5 times and PS3 tend to be more reliable ?
By the way i own an xbox i'm not bashing it i just thought this might have something to do with figures

I don't have much experience with the ps3 (I own a 360 as do all of my gaming friends) but I played resistance 1 on a friends console and thought it looked like a badly rendered ps2 game.

He saw me playing gears of war 1 on the same day and was blown away by the visuals. He went out and bought a 360 soon after.

I bought my first 360 when it was around £300 with 2 games. I have not regretted that choice for a second.
