The real war starts now!

I really want them to come out on top of this generation, they've had so much shit flung at them (some if it has been deserved admittedly) that it's hard not to want them to surpass everyones low expectations.

Plus, I really dont want Sony to stop releasing consoles or games because they are always my first choice when it comes to what I spend my wages on.
I'd rather them lose this generation horribly at this point. That way they learn not to be assholes when designing arcitecture, their next console will be designed in such a way that it's easy for devs to work with it meaning it gets a shit tonne of awsome games. I think sony have had too much success with the ps1 and 2, for them to really continue getting better they need(ed) to fail or at least slow down at some point, how can you learn from your mistakes when you've not really made any? I'm tipping that microsoft learned from rushing the xbox out before it was properly stable and will probably be more conservative with their next console, if all goes well we'll have a generation of awsome consoles.

haha i have a hard time believing it has anything to do with the redesign, and a lot more with the price reduction. they finally drop the price and people buy the console. go figure, only every industry analyst has been saying this since i can remember
You sir would be one hundred percent correct.

While I do personally love the redesign (fits snugly beneath my flat screen), the price drop caused me to buy one up so fast I think I saw burn marks from the friction of yanking out my wallet to pay for it.

My Gamefly list currently looks like this.

Mini Ninjas
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Prototype
Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed 2
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Wolfenstein
Resistance: Fall of Man
Resistance 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Prince of Persia
Borderlands
Wet
Red Faction: Guerrilla
Demon's Souls
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
Brutal Legend
Valkyria Chronicles
Dirt 2
Gran Turismo 5
Katamari Forever
Battlefield: Bad Company
Cross Edge
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
Eternal Sonata
Devil May Cry 4
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
Lost Planet 2
Just Cause 2
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4
Front Mission Evolved
Armored Core 4
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Unreal Tournament III
Armored Core: For Answer
Resident Evil 5
Disgaea 3 *Own*
BlazBlue *own*
Batman: Arkham Asylum *Own*

While I realize some of these aren't console exclusive (nor was I trying to say they are) and I also realize some of these aren't even awesome games (but entertaining in their own right regardless) I was still able to locate something like 38 games to put on the list that Iv'e either played demo's for or found considerable interest in.

Since the release of the Slim I have put more hours into my PS3 than my 360 (which I've owned for as long as the Jasper version has been out). The problem I have with the 360 is I can use its controller on my PC and my PC blows the console out of the water specs wise. It's not a bad system and I'm not trying to relate them. But overall I've been very please with this purchase.

Plus not having to deal with "points" in the online store is great. I can't stand the "It's only 800 points" instead of a straight dollar amount.

People who hate sony are going to continue hating sony, people who hate any company likely will continue to do so, but overall as a (hopefully) mostly neutral bystander I have to say I'm happy they finally got their head at least up to their ears out of their ass.

PS. I do agree (personally) that Killzone 2 was pretty damn inferior to anything anyone told me about it. I played it at a friends and got Halo syndrome. (Halo Syndrome is the effect where someone tells you a FPS is awesome to the max and you play it to find yourself just playing another run of the mill FPS that still isn't as entertaining as FPS's you've owned for a decade or more).

I think it's more to do with the price reduction and the fact that they actually have a list of exclusive games (check out their E3 conference [http://e3.gamespot.com/press-conference/] this year) worth playing...

It will be interesting to see if Sony can keep those numbers going. Next week sales will probably plummet now that that demand of people waiting forever for a PS3 price drop has been met.

Ratchet and Clank, if you're honestly trying to make that seem like a good PS3 exclusive then I'll have to ask you to step outside.
See this? SHIT JUST GOT REAL UP IN THIS PLACE *****, OH YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT'S TIME FOR A DEBATE! SIT YOUR ASS DOWN SO WE CAN ARGUE THE PRO'S CON'S RIGHT NOW!
YO *****, I GOT CHO BACK!

*busts through a door with an assault rifle*

NOW WHERE'S THE PUNK WHO DON' LIKE R&C?!?

...I need to stop playing GTA4. Anyway, R&C is one of my favorite franchises. And I have to agree that the PS3 actually does have good games now. A few years back, not so much, but now the only thing I can find at fault with a PS3 is the lack of BC. And since someone told me that the PS3's BC was actually bad with some stuff to begin with (like the 360's is with some games), I might just get one and a new PS2 to save myself the trouble.

The price drop, and the fact they haven't been bleeding heart liberals and have SOME exclusives to the PS3 will help greatly and people are getting the hang of making PS3 games. The funny thing this reminds me of the last generation counsel war. PS2 had all the games, and Xbox was more Halo and a few certian games. It's funny how back then, nobody was bitching or wanted Halo on the Ps2, but now it's like this generation's Halo classic games NEEDS to be on this generation's PS2. But I think the Ps3 has a chance now that people can afford it, like how Microsoft shed there prices to like 199 bucks. No, I don't pick one or the other, I just feel the counsel war is pointless. If you want Metal Gear Solid or any good like singlular blockbuster game, go PS3, if you want Halo or Gears or a wide variety of games, go 360. But don't be a bloody ignornat fanboy.
