Couldn't they have gone and bought a few PS3's so it would go to 1000%?
Man, people are never pleased. Kidding.

Finally, some good news. I hope they keep it up. But 999% percent?! Holy shitballs...

999% ... this is funny.

You know, if I sell today 1 cookie, and then tomorrow I sell 2 cookies that means I`ve doubled my sells : 200% baby!

That were Sony is right now.
Actually, your sales would have increased by 100%.
Still, it will be interesting to see how much sales increase over time.

999% ?

Right, because no number fiddling has gone on there...

Even if the new slim dropped in price to £150 I doubt the sales would go up that high.
Most comments from the public I have seen about the price drop have said it still isn't enough and they still won't be buying one.

I still don't like the game selection for the ps3, so I'm still not buying it price cut or no.
Umm, good for you?
Thats exactly what I was thinking, thats really neat buddy.

I don't have a PS3, and I dont plan on getting one soon, but it is good to hear their sales are boosting, and maybe this could influence a drop of prices on games, which are getting more and more expensive.

999 is the opposite of 666. So that means that the PS3 slim is awesome but oh I can't believe this. That is like 1000000 units compared to there usual 5000 units a month.

Sony cuts price = they loose even more money on each ps3 sold.

Bill gates knows this, and went to buy as many PS3s as possible, not only to make sony loose money, cause sony makes money from games and stuff, not the console so if Bill buys them, and burns them, there ain't gonna be made money off of them, he bought everythiing the stores had so normal people couldn't get them.

I'm pretty sure this is what happened, i read it in the intestines of the rat i found in my happy meal.
Wouldnt that make BG lose more money?

I'd be surprised if it lasts. I'd be even more surpirsed that Sony fans are so shallow that they think:

OH MY GOD IT'S THIN! IT ROCKS I'M GOING TO BUY ONE! NO FAT CHICKS LOLOLOL!!!!1!

although that's the feeling I get from these sales figures

(no offence to Sony fans by the way)

The cost or production goes down over time, negating your argument. Sony is still selling at a loss, but not at a greater loss then before. Microsoft is selling at a loss as well.

So Sony has sold alot of new consoles at a cheaper price during the first week of launch. Hmmmm and then? This number is just that a number. It means nothing right now. Sony needs to keep moving them like that for longer than a week for the number to actually mean something. And I hope they can. Then devs will be more willing to support it properly.

Last I read, the PS3 costs $840 to produce. I haven't been able to find a solid cost per unit figure for the slim. I saw ranges from a slight profit to a $100 loss.

But why are people responding teisjm's obviously facetious post. All companies lose money at production. Anyone buying units recovers/mitigates the production cost. And Blood77 comment about selling the consoles fast was probably in reference to the shoddy units Microsoft developed, red ring of death being the most infamous problem, in order to gain first mover advantage.

Hardware sales spiking when a new model is released and the price is reduced... is not news-worthy.

I can't help but feel that that's a misleading figure. Maybe I'm just paranoid after coming out of a stats class on just this topic, but almost 1000% seems to be misconstrued somehow.

Regardless, high five to Sony for remembering how a free market works!

I'm pretty excited by this. I'm hoping to get a few more friends on PSN now.
