I actually hope this is a foreshadowing of its fail. I seriously think the PSPGo is one of the worst ideas Sony has ever come up with.

Gamers pay more for a version of a console that has less features than what its meant to be an updated version of. No UMD capability which means missing out on a large backlog of games (not to mention retailers don't like selling consoles that rely on digital distribution), uses memory stick M2 which means paying more for the storage media, and as I just mentioned the price.

I personally think the original PSP 1000 was a fine enough design, maybe in need of a higher capacity battery for more hours of gaming, but still sufficient. All these new versions are just failed marketing attempts. I actually really feel sorry for anyone who bought the PSPGo. They're going to have a hard time playing Gitaroo Man Lives and Daxter and other great games that I'm fairly certain have yet to reach PSN.

See? You can't market a handheld console system that is "alright" at best for the amount of money they're asking for it. I hope this means a price drop in the near future because sales are not going to get any better.

Smaller screen? im sorry why do we get downsize on the small enough screen of the psp3000?
The smaller lighter size means the hardware obviously is gona be alot weaker.
I saw the sound wasnt as good as the 3K. And some review around the internet have said that even the controls are somewhat worse.
Also ye why would i wanna buy a PSPGO and abandon all my old games. I doubt they just gona let me download em for free....how will we prove we bought them anyway?
They should keep the psp current design and try to make the console more powerfull instead of changing it.
35 GB memory stick would rly be awesome.
I got no idea what sparkled this invention maybe its some kind of a test for something else?

1000 units sold in Australia... So who the hell bought two of them? :p

Sony finally gets taken down a notch. We need a lot more quality control on consoles and games in general. No more movie games!

The PSP-2000 with the extended battery is a great system.

If they wanted the Go to succeed they would have had to bring PSP support to the PS3, similar to the PS1 support. With easy game save swapping. Pull out my memory card and continue to play on the TV. And bring in PSN support (friends list, trophies). Basically linking it more to PS3 owners than current PSP owners; bringing in new blood from those that just got PS3's and play on Home (they exist), Batman, and other cross platform games that don't suck on the PS3, and think Sony is great.

But to go after existing PSP owners? They *had* to port libraries to do that. Which they couldn't. So we aren't going to buy it.

I'd maybe pick it up if it were a hundred bucks. As a more portable, forward system *if* it had the PS3 connectivity to entice me to buy the downloadable versions of $40 games instead of paying $20-30 in a store for a disc. I like not needing to swap discs. I don't "$250 + $40 per game + $x for old favorite games" like the ability.

Gonna be a lot harder to sell a handheld when Sony backs out on the promises they made for giving the players their games for free via download. Also I'm sure it is a fine handheld but I prefer my old psp-1000 over the go because of UMD support. Granted now all games are going to be digital but 16 gigabytes with psp games is filled rather quickly and if they are still using pro duo memory those memory cards are very expensive and really behind the SD memory cards. Sony hasn't even made a 32 gig pro duo memory card yet so the pspgo can't really support holding a large library of just psp games.

Also they could of expanded the online support like they do with the ps3. That could of been a massive selling point.
I completely agree, while I didn't buy the UMD DVD's (I mean, who would?) I loved my PSP as it was. Downloading games just seems silly. It also means you have to have wireless internet, which seems like a petty complaint but if you don't have wireless internet, it means if you see a game you like, you have to go round to a friends house or something.

The 16GB can be expanded via SD cards.

Smaller screen means a sharper picture, if only a little bit. Smaller = weaker? Not necessarily. Technology as a whole is getting stronger and smaller. The gaming division is no different. They aren't shoving the PSPgo down your throat. If you don't want to give up your UMDs and your PSP Phat, then alright. It's meant to appeal to an audience that would prefer a download-only system. Keeping the current design... That's kind of what PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 were. 35 GB memory stick... Yeah, that would be awesome. Not sure what that has to do with the Go, though. The idea was sparked through the popularity of a certain other download-only device, more than likely. And with digital distribution becoming more and more popular, it seems like a good idea, but apparently the mass market isn't quite comfortable with it just yet.

As it was predicted by the Village Elder. Now, you - The Chosen One, must leave Arroyo and buy a P.S.P.G.O.

Nobody expected good sales for the GO. Everybody called it a fail. It's a fail.

Whoever thought the PSPgo was a good idea is clearly a moron. The normal PSP wasn't doing that well in the first place, did they really think that making a new one based entirely on digital distribution was a good idea?
Sony should either drop the platform or make the PSP 2, and for God's sake stick a second analog stick on it.

Just proves the superiority of his older brother, the PSP3000.

Seriously, I knew digital distribution would do this. Everyone thinks it's just gonna replace hard copies in a week, and when this happens I laugh hard.

my friend bought a psp-3000 last week...he hadn't heard of the pspgo

seems like a strange system that doesn't fit with what a majority of potential consumers would want. possibly a device testing the waters of download only formats, it can be discontinued relatively easily (or so i imagine), and is less expensive than the ps3 to produce (i would hope)

Isn't it just a normal PSP with a bigger control panel? I don't really understand why it's better than a normal one.
It's entirely run on Digital Distribution. No UMD slot which means retailers can't sell any games for it which means there aren't any used games which cuts out a fairly large portion of their profits - which is the reason EB in Aussieland didn't stock them.
Does the PSP 3000 also support digital distribution?

If so, I'm profoundly confused as to why anybody would buy a PSPGo.
