Isn't it just a normal PSP with a bigger control panel? I don't really understand why it's better than a normal one.
It's entirely run on Digital Distribution. No UMD slot which means retailers can't sell any games for it which means there aren't any used games which cuts out a fairly large portion of their profits - which is the reason EB in Aussieland didn't stock them.
Does the PSP 3000 also support digital distribution?

If so, I'm profoundly confused as to why anybody would buy a PSPGo.
Prepare to be confused. Apparently you can download PSP games just fine on previous models.

I've not owned a PSP myself, my only experience being a few brief plays around with my brother's PSP1000 but as far as I know you can buy games for at least the PSP3000 via digital distribution. I might be wrong and if someone who actually owns the system could confirm/deny that'd be great.

Idiots, they got what they deserved. This is karma comming back to bite them in the ass for what they did to HD DVD. Sorry Sony, you are not always right and the masses will not always follow you.

I'm not surprised.

It's the right time for using digital distribution as an ALTERNATIVE to retail copies but not a console that's entirely devoted to digital distribution.

Throw in a large price tag and some anger from retailers and the system was dead before it even launched.

Wasn't it the same deal with the PS3? I'm not saying that negatively or anything. It didn't sell too hot in it's first week or so.
Kind of different. The PSPgo isn't gaining foothold with places like EB Games and Gamestop because you don't have to buy games for it, you download them. The PSPgo isn't selling well because not only do people who already own a PSP see it as a waste of money, but also because retailers do not want to sell it/advertise it.

As a Nintendo fanboy: HAHAHAHA THE PSP SUXXORS!!1!
As a normal person: I feel sorry for these guys. As much as I hate digital distribution (I prefer owning stuff) I feel that it is the next step for gaming. This kind of seems like a step back.

So let's see, PSPGo sales are good in the UK/Europe (can't remember which exactly), and horrendous in Australia.

...so...it's a wash, then?

Yep, that's perplexing.

This is even dumber than the DSi.

Maybe because we're not morons and can smell when we're getting ripped off?

Why do you think we use playasia, when the games are easily $40 cheaper (WITH POSTAGE)? For fun?

We're used to getting the short end of every stick and when we can we defy it, like our stupid OFLC not rating L4D2 or getting rock band a year late.

look at the bloody thing! it must be fucking uncomfortable to play on that. if i could get a PSP id get 1 of the older models, much more comfortable and prettier. the Go looks like a bad parody of the DS.

also, Sony let the customers down saying it was awesome and all that shit. it, like the DSi, was unappriciated.

EcoEclipse yes it may be sharper (ill take ur word for it) but the screen was small enough already. i would appreciate an effort of sony to try and make the current screen better and the console to improve its graphics limitation.
Since ur talkin about minituarilization then lets keep the inside components smaller and improve the product on overall not make it even smaller with not much of a difference in performance!
cuz im sure every psp gamer is not lookin for a smaller size but for improved quality both in the psp and the games. if those two come baged in a smaller size okay thats fine.

I would like to point out that maybe the problem was a lack of advertising.
I live in this country and often know what games and consoles are coming out and when.
Yet, i never even knew it was out, despite going to the shops twice in that time. To be honest, no retailers had the console.

If I had a bit more money I would purchase the PSPgo. It has built in Bluetooth, the ability to connect to the internet from an internet ready phone via Bluetooth, use the PS3 controller to control the games AND you can hook it up to a TV.

The idea of downloading and playing all the classic PSX games on it (or even the PSP games) with a PS3 controller on the TV while I was at home and then being able to take it with me on the go made me smile. It would be like a mini/portable Playstation; A "Playstation Portable" one might call it!

I'm sorry... :(

I hate selling this thing. As I've said elsewhere, I'm a retailer, and when someone asks me about "That new PSP thing... Go, or Start, or something?", it just makes me shudder.

Seriously, I can't even -sell- the goddamn thing. I hope Sony crash and burn for it.

As another Australian I didn't even know it existed before this thread. Of course it could just be the fact I haven't watched the public channels in years.
