I think it's best to leave their money to them, they no what they're doing.TylerBaumbarger said:snip
Ah well, at least I'll be better than the other plebs. And I'll get to make a title!Hileict said:Y'know what? I'm guessing those "focus groups" will just be a forum thread or IRC-like chat. It'll still be a wave of text. Unless they've pulled something magical out of their asses at the last minute..Daveman said:My biggest reason for joining would probably be the taking part in focus groups etc. I really want to contribute to giving feedback on the escapist and this is probably a more scientific/sensible way to do that than, say, ranting in a forum.
Although... I'd probably feel obliged to *shudder* make friends with some of the community.
as addendum to his question will it be possible to pay trough paypal for those non creditcard folks? (who live in a country with no prepaid creditcards)Nouw said:Question Here!
Is the only way of paying using Amazon?
-Thanks
Th.. That's been brought up and answered multiple times.. Does anyone at all read prior to posting? Answers are most likely already there. o.ojoshthor said:im wondering what will happen if someone subscribes and gets banned. are they just not allowed on the forums or do they lose access from the premium stuff as well?
edit: im asking cause im planning on getting banned in a ridiculous way.
edit 2: above was sarcasm.
Considering every avatar you've had is Gundam related I'm surprised you chose something Pokemon related.John Funk said:Wootness. Go team!
And as Kuliani et al have said, you will absolutely not lose anything by not subscribing, so don't worry about that
psh. i dont have time to read 5 pages of crazy forum posters! that is madness! THIS IS SPARTAAAAA!!!!!!!! but thanks for answering my question.Hileict said:Th.. It's not a right. If you're on grounds to be banned and you have your shiny title, badge and all, g'bye subscription too~
But if your subscription -ends-, you lose your title but keep the badge. Simple enough?
Ads are bought in lumps of hundreds of thousands or millions at a time so our success rates are not at all effected by a few thousand less ad impressions.TylerBaumbarger said:I'm just saying, advertisers are less likely to work with sites with lower success rates and less ad views means less revenue from that source. If I wind up being right about the losses, I want Russ to buy me a puppy.Myan said:While your argument is mostly correct in theory, there is no site on the internet today, not even the IGNs of the world, that have a 100% fill rate all of the time. Meaning, 100% of the ad inventory is always sold. Though, I must admit, it'd sure be nice to have that "problem" here at The Escapist. Even if it does make my life rather hellish.
It should already work. Funk has a Droid and we tested it on his phone - just make sure you log into the site on the phone first.7ru7h said:Would you be able to do something similar for the Android browser?
Embedded videos don't work in the RSS - if they're our videos, they'll have links to the video instead. Unfortunately I couldn't find a way to get the embed codes to work reliably via RSS.7ru7h said:And to add yet another question, will I get videos in said RSS as well, or will I need to hit the article on the page for those?
Google reader doesn't support them at the moment. Hopefully they'll add it in later. I use FeedDemon, which syncs with Google Reader, and had to add the full-content feed directly to the client.7ru7h said:Yet another question. Does anybody know how to add authenticated RSS feeds to Google Reader?
I'll see what I can do about adding PayPal as an option.knight of some random number said:However is there any chance of a paypal option being included?
It's a forum category that only subscribers can see. It will probably have less traffic, if that kind of thing appeals to you.Dudemeister said:I have a question.
What's this walled garden exactly? I mean I know it's a separate forum area but is it just for keeping the peasants out of sight of subscribers or is it a different kind of forum?
I personally love RS... It's one of those many things on this site things I look forward to...Susan Arendt said:Oh, that's fine if you don't enjoy RS, it's not for everyone, but to lump Marion in with the rest of us is simply unfair. If you consider a fictional character to be a douchebag, no problem, but I hope you're not saying that the rest of our reviewers aren't doing their jobs.Hileict said:It may be fictional and all, Susan, but it's still.. Well.. In extremely poor taste. I've read through a few and I really just can't stand it.Susan Arendt said:You do realize that Marion is a fictional character and that Reliable Source is satire, right?Hileict said:Plus, not to sound harsh or anything, but I could hardly call people like Yahtzee or Marion "game journalists/reviewers". To review a game, you play it properly and give an unbiased opinion/viewpoint.. Not just drop it because you're "rather bored". It's your job. Do it properly or let someone else who actually will.
Ahem..
You also realize that The Escapist hosts a number of reviewers, of course?
And of course I know of the actual reviewers, in fact I've watched several and enjoy them.. But there's reviewers.. And.. Well.. Douchebags.
They said that you won't lose a thing for not joining...ars731 said:I have a question? will Zero Punctuation and other shows on The Escaptist still be free or will we have to pay to watch them?
