A Pug.
Both breeds are supposed to be quite stubborn, Shar pei are larger so I imagine previous experience with big dogs is essential and Pugs characteristic squished nose can cause them breathing problems (I heard from a helper at school that they are spectacular snorers). I guess like any dog they just have to be well trained and cared for and you have a loving family pet.
My name isn't TEAM STAR PUG for nothing. Exept it isn't really team star pug... oh you get the idea.
damn you for making the cutest thread on The Escapist. You purposefully posted a picture of a non-pug so everyone else would correct you with pictures. There is such a thing as too much adorable you know.

My sister has a pug and my dad got a rescure pug so now we have two of them!

My fiancee wants one but I don't quite see the charm and as far as I know they tend to have some health problems that would be off-putting for me.
They are short breathed, lazy and deformed.
But being dogs, some of them show great character. A girl i was befriended with had a great pug called phoenix, a really fun dog, besides the noises it made, he used to climb on my lab/arms/wherever he could get and instantly fell asleep. When i slept in her place once, the dog sad next to my head all morning , giving me dreams of mutated pigs from mars.

My friend and I came up with the war between the pug and the sharpei which has been going on for thousands of years. The pugs were happy, invincible and immortal until they became jelous of the sharpeis wrinkles. then they started a war and now the pugs are forever sad, as they just want to die but they cannot, as they are invincible and immortal, and extremely weak, exept for that freakishly muscular pug.
If a pug finds a way to die, only the clapping of a child can bring it back to life. or make it more invincible if it is still alive. then the pug will shout "Nuuuuu".
Pugs can only stop being invincible if they manage to say "a bloo bloo bloo" but they cannot, because they always pronounce it " a wruu wruu wruu". because they talk like this:
