I actually quite like the Doomsday mode, it encourages people to work together when you have to stay on the landing pad.

Meet the Pyro was crap. Pyroland and the goggles that allow you to experience it are quite puke worthy. Honestly the only good thing in the update was the new SMG for the Sniper. (sigh) TF2 used to be such a great game but over time my view on it has been souring from making weapons and hats that break immersion due to not fitting into the style of the game (Pyroland being one and the alien weapons for the Soldier being another example), the Soldier and Demo getting tons of updates when my sniper gets almost nothing by comparison, and the plethora of hackers griefers that have infested the game since it went f2p due to no longer fearing bans.
TF2 still is my favorite game ever but that is TF2 of before recent years.
Eh? A game that's meant to be a goofy-ass shooter version of Looney Tunes is less immersive because of hats? If anything the plethora of items and styles has helped the game. Don't tell me that when you get killed by a scout wearing obnoxious glasses it doesn't immediately set you on an epic quest of revenge. It's cool to see something like an engineer with a robot arm, or a sniper running at you with a jug of urine, and know immediately you have to change your strategy.
You don't like the fact that jarate + bushwacka makes you a close and personal killing machine now, or that you have a new set of long range options?

Don't worry. Community is making good use of it

As for the update only thing that i don't like was "happy" googles. They seriously creep me out with all the joy it is putting me through murder.
Wow, that is so impressive! I'll have to try that.

OT: Yeah, it's great. I like the pyrovision goggles, they just make an already silly game even sillier. Haven't tried any new content yet though.

The Meet the Pyro video was amazingly well made, but bloody horrifying.
The way he locked that medic in the barn and just burned it the fuck down is bloody frightening.
But the way he gave the "fuck off and die" look (as opposed to childish joy for the rest) to the sniper begging at his feet just made me gleeful. Because seriously...screw snipers. Assholes.

A spare Rainblower, eh? Any chance you would...you know...be willing to part with it? :)

As a side note, I'm absolutely loving the new Scout weapons. Especially that pistol. I would not be surprised if it got a debuff in the near future.
The Scout pistol is fantastic, yes. Feel free to add me on Steam and I'll send a Rainblower your way considering I now have three of them. One being a strange that I'm taking all the way to Australian!

I am personally hating the Pyrovision. It just means that on the Valve maps the game has to load two sets of textures which can really effect a low end computer. I used to pull a reasonable 20-30 FPS but now it is really choppy on those maps...

I haven't noticed any performance drops or loading time spikes on my pc, but I know I won't be spending much time in Pyroland. It's a fun idea but it really screws with my depth perception with classes that rely a lot on predicting movement, like the Scout and... uh, the Pyro. It's fun as a soldier or demo though.

I said some of the items and hats break immersion. Far from all do. But I hate any form of immersion breaking so this is a strong -. As for the style it wasn't always this way. Back on release yes it was wacky but it had more of a pseudo realistic shooter basded in the 60s due to the guns and character designs with only the art being wacky and @ the time it was good because it helped break the ultra serious nature of other fps games. Over time though Valve has ran with the wacky and ramped it up to the point that TF2 now does not look or feel like Tf2 of the days of before whatever update came after Sniper vs Spy.
The same problem is why I hated SR3 compared to 2.
The amount of customization options available means there are some items that look completely silly. I've never felt like it breaks immersion in any way, but it does make the visual style uneven, which is a shame because at the beginning TF2 had one of the most consistent and creative visual styles I've ever seen in a game. What I do like about it though is it makes PUGs more interesting because it lets people express themselves a little. I appreciate that there are a lot of Demomen in funky shades and crazy hats, or that there are a lot of Snipers wearing that Scarecrow mask that makes them look like tools. There's a cost to the overall style by letting you wear Skyrim helmets and iPods, but I think overall it does more good than harm.

Cool beans. Thanks.

I'll add you tonight but I won't be able to get on until tomorrow. Taking my computer apart this evening for my monthly "clean the dust and gunk out of the heat-sinks" routine. Likewise, doing a long overdue defrag and syscheck of all three drives. (seeing as they're each 2TB, it may take a while)

Btw, I've been sharing my account lately so, even if you see me on, it may or may not be me. Just a heads up.

I wouldn't worry about him, he's clearly being silly. Maybe he's just jealous he never got any nice hats. In any case, the TF2 community is already hard at work with the source filmmaker.
